A question about : PC Gamers: Origin Anniversary Sale On Until 19th June

Only just noticed this (because I only log in to Origin to play Mass Effect 3! title=Big) but the Origin Anniversary Sale, entitled Games That Gamers Want! is currently up on EA's Origin digital distribution service.

If you've been after an EA published game then now might be time to check out the sale as there is up to 50% off selected titles.

Highlights include:

Mass Effect 3 for Ј7.49 (Tip: If you buy this game download the FREE Extended Cut DLC unless you want an ending that makes less sense than a drunken, deranged penguin - not claiming the ending is that much better afterwards, but it is better!)

Mass Effect 1 & 2 for Ј4.99 each (Tip, if you're new to Mass Effect play through them in order. You can create your character and carry them through each game. Decisions you make in Mass Effect 1 can have significant impacts on Mass Effect 2 & 3).

Battlefield 2 Complete Collection for Ј7.49

Dragon Age Origins and Dragon Age II for Ј7.49 each or Dragon Age Origins Ultimate Edition (inc. all DLC) for Ј12.49

Command and Conquer Ultimate Collection for Ј12.49

Crysis 2 Maximum Edition for Ј12.49

Dead Space 3 for Ј19.99

Crysis 3 for Ј19.99

Other titles also available.

Please note, even though these items are on sale, Origin is considered to be heavily overpriced and so even with half off these may not represent the best deals available. Always shop around! title=Top

It is free to sign up to EA Origin and download the client at https://store.origin.com

If this sale doesn't grab you, the Steam summer sale is usually begins towards the end of June and continues for up to two weeks, featuring numerous daily offers and flash deals. However, many recent EA published titles are unavailable on Steam.

Further Mass Effect Tips - If you're not interested in ME no need to read further title=Big
There is a free DLC for Mass Effect 1 called Bring Down the Sky which is highly recommended. However, it is a frustrating experience to get hold of; this post at the Bioware Social Network explains what you need to do - https://social.bioware.com/forum/1/to...ndex/9618640/1

There is also another DLC called Pinnacle Station. It is little more than a training simulator and only recommended for people obsessed with achievements and trophies.

The Mass Effect Trilogy on Origin for 19.99 includes both Bring Down the Sky and Pinnacle Station. However, it is more expensive than buying the games separately and does not include any DLC that you cannot get for free yourself.

If you buy Mass Effect 2, you will have to have an EA login (Origin login details will suffice). You will then want to visit the BSN (Bioware Social Network) and login using the same details. Once logged in, you will want to visit your profile page and go to your registered game content to download free DLCs, particularly Zaaed - The Price of Revenge as this DLC can have an impact on Mass Effect 3.

There are further paid DLCs available for both ME2 and ME3. These can work out quite expensive and should only be purchased if you really enjoyed the game(s). They are also of varying quality.

Purely as a personal recommendation, I consider Arrival and Lair of the Shadow Broker to be the two best DLCs for ME2. Arrival acts as the storyline bridge between ME2 and ME3 although is not entirely necessary. LotSB adds a few missions separate from the main storyline that only slightly ties in to ME3.

Stolen Memory is also fun and can have an effect on ME3 as well as adding a new character.

ME2 DLC can be found at: https://social.bioware.com/page/me2-dlc

For ME3, Citadel is the most enjoyable but is also the least relevant, serving as fan service and comic relief. Leviathan is the most relevant to the storyline. From Ashes adds a short mission and a new squadmate. Omega is two to three hours of non-stop action.

Both games also have DLC that add weapons and armor.

ME2 & 3 DLC is purchased with Bioware Points, which are much like MS Points. These are quite annoying in that some DLCs may only be 560 BW Points, requiring you to buy more points than you need to buy the DLC you want, therefore be aware that you may get lumbered with useless points if you decide to purchase any DLC.
