A question about : Pay cash in pounds or another currency...?
Hi
I'm going on holiday to India and have to pay the balance for my accommodation when I get there in cash. They'll accept pounds, dollars, euros and rupees. Can anyone figure out what's the best deal for me, given if I pay in anything other than pounds I'll need to exchange before I go...? It's about Ј500 worth.I was assuming pounds is most convenient but if it's stronger than the euro...does that make more sense?! Thanks for any help
Best answers:
- I'm not familiar with Indian ATMs, but for most places I would normally say if you have an account(s) with no foreign currency charges, withdraw cash from an ATM once you're there.
- I have used Indian ATMs and they are fine... whereas exchanging cash in a bank involves a long and frustrating wait.
- Thanks for the replies - much appreciated. I've got the Halifax Clarity card but I've only got a max Ј500 limit at the moment, and I think Ј250 is my max withdrawal. Although carrying so much cash makes me nervous - I'm normally a CC person - I figure I'd rather save the Ј250 cash withdrawal option for when I'm there. Thanks again for getting back to me
