A question about : Parking ticket but never been to that part of UK!

Hi there,

I have today received a Parking Charge Notice Reminder from TNC on behalf of P4Parking.

I have never been to this part of the country and on the day in question I was working from home!

The letter is correctly titled to me, as is the registration and make of car however the colour is wrong.

Going through the forums I can't seem to find anything similar to this. Should my first point of call be to the DVLA?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Best answers:

  • yes , complain to the DVLA as your VRN may have been cloned
also note that they are treating you as RK under POFA 2012, not the driver, so its not about if you have been in that part of the UK , but a car bearing your VRN
or they have read the VRN incorrectly and so you got the pcn instead of somebody else
  • Many thanks both, your comments have put my mind at rest. I'll contact them as you say and let you know the outcome.
  • If you can find out the land owner/car par owner for the land where thy think your vehicle was, you could always try a complaint to them as well as the ppc.
  • Before we head off down the cloned car route, how about the more likely scenario of a number plate misread? Are there photos on the letter received? Do they show the number plate?
You should challenge the parking charge on the basis you state. Also say that you suspect a cloned plate (even if unlikely), and need photos so that you can submit them as evidence to the police. That may spur them into checking themselves. When they bluster and reject your challenge, then is the time to complain to the DVLA about the unlawful access to the keeper information.
  • Hi all,
Thanks so much for taking the time to post back. I've received the following back today:
"Apologies for this oversight, TNC have been informed you are not the owner of this Vehicle."
    Glad this was over quickly
