A question about : "Parking Notice Charge" UKCPS Ltd

Hi Everyone, long time MSE reader but first time poster!

Yesterday whilst visiting a friends flat, I parked in his allocated parking spot in the block of flat's private car park (the block of flats has spaces allocated to residents and then unallocated spaces where a permit must be shown.) I did not display a permit badge as I assumed (probably wrongly) that as it was his designated spot & therefore the tenant has permission to grant parking in their spot.

On returning to my car I found that I had a Parking Notice Charge for Ј100 attached to the car, discounted to Ј60 if paid in 14 days. Having read the guidance on this site regarding private tickets, I am considering going for the keep quiet approach but have a few worries over this:

· Firstly, if I was to appeal do I have any valid grounds on which to appeal considering i was parked there with the residents consent?
· The charge states if it isn't paid within 28 days court action WILL be taken and I will be liable to pay Bailiff & court costs. Is this true & is it likely to be costly?
· The ticket has the incorrect colour for my car, could this be a little loophole to get out the charge or am I just being silly? title=Smile
· Are UKCPS are reputable company or should i be wary at all?
Thank you in advance,

Ian

  • you have absolutely nothing to worry about,, all thr threats are just to get your money off you,, they have no legal powers/back up,, do not lose any sleep do not contact, do not reply to threats you will recieve from them/debt collectors/solicitors,,its all a scam,,guess what,,,,ignore completely,,relax, chill, nothing can/will happen to you.remember ignore.
  • Thanks very much guys for you quick responses, will sleep a lot easier!
I noticed the links for UKCPS letters on the letters post (Private Parking Companies' Letters: What to Expect (add your own)) were broken, so I'll scan in and update if/when I get sent letters.
    Thanks Again!
  • The loss suffered by the landholder is zero, therefore the most UKCPS can sue you for is zero.
  • If you look at a UKCPS screen invoice they are laughable as posted in the stickies why anyone would not question them is beyond me. I personally love section 7 The police must not discourge their officer from paying and their appeal must be on "Police headed paper" Their whole invoice if you read the various sections is repetitive and nonsensical.
You would think if they wanted to be taken seriously they would at least get the screen invoice right.
  • Hi Ian,
How have you got on with this? I got issued a ticket late last night, so just curious.
    Thanks
  • Hello,
Am new to this site just registered today and have seen some post here but they seems long time ago... I went Temping with my wife and suprisingly when we finished to get to our car we got a ticket from this company call UKCPS reason for the ticket was ( out of a marked bay) can any one please advice me on what to do please ......
  • Can you please create your own dedicated thread below, this is a seriously out of date thread that has information that has changed
    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/...play.php?f=163
  • You will need to give much more detail than you've so far given. The main thing is to start a new thread as this one is old and the advice is likely to get a bit mixed up.
Not sure what you mean by 'Temping' with the wife? It's not a variant of d*gging something else, is it?
  • hi i've recently had a parking ticket whilst visiting a maplins store in regent st leeds to which i spent almost five hundred pounds. there the UKCPS are carrying out a scam. at the front of the building it tells you free parking but ther's only four spaces & one disabled one. one of the four is taken up by one of there scammers in a silver mercedes benze estate with a camera fixed on the dashboard waiting for you to park up & put a ticket on your car if you park anywhere else. dont pay wont pay i'll be taking all way to the court as well as gathering more evidence of the scam as well as inviting BBC Look north.
  • I got an "invoice" recently for parking my moped on the very large pedestrian area at the Carlton Centre in Lincoln. I parked just off the car park beside a large rose bush area which is surrounded with 3 ft bollards.
I wrote to the Coop who own the car park to ask them why they are dealing with these cowboys, I got a rather condescending letter from Banks Long and co who "manage the car park, According to Ms Peach I was a danger to blind people who use the Carlton Centre, quite frankly if said blind person did not walk into my moped they would have fell into the large bushes or ruptured themselves on the bollards. She also came out with a load of Bull about Reckless moped riders (I'm 52 and would not class myself like this) and also she alleged that the car park was used by lots of gangs as an unofficial park and ride into Lincoln, Funny there is free car parks in Lincoln centre!
Coop eventually replied but were not interested and were happy for their customers to be ripped off like this.
These cowboys have been paid to manage this car park but on many a Saturday you will see McDonalds staff marshalling cars on the main road in an attempt at clearing the backlog.
Bloody crooks will not be getting my money in fact I will be returning my Divvy card and shopping elsewhere in future
  • Did you appeal to the Parking firm, as we do advise? If you have received the first postal Notice about it you had 28 days from then to challenge it.
IGNORE IS OLD ADVICE, hope you have realised that by reading current threads (this one is old)?
Start your own thread if you are still in time to appeal and win. See my signature; the current forum of new threads is only a click away (explained in my sig).

  • I recently visited a retail park, I parked in a disabled bay, put my disabled badge up, and went to pick up some flu remedy medicines. on my return to my car 10 minutes later I had a parking fine on my window, unfortunately I had made a genuine mistake of putting my old badge on display instead of my new one, the fine was Ј100 or Ј60 if paid within 14 days, I wrote to UKCPS explaining that I wasn't to well on that that and made a genuine mistake of placing the old badge and that I did have a valid badge, and that I couldn't afford the Ј60 fine, and offered to pay Ј30 like the local authority charge, I received a letter back saying they were sympathetic but I still had to pay the fine, I think this is very unfair as I am a disabled driver, and the charge of Ј60 for parking there for 10 minutes is horrendous, is there anything I can do, would be grateful for some advice. Thanks
  • hi there, ive been ignoring these parking fines for some time now but have now recieved a court order from county court bulk centre is the legitimate or also part of the scam should i pay it or not.....thanks
