A question about : Parking Charge Notice

Hi,
I got a parking charge notice on my windscreen when parked at Merry Hill yesterday, it says they are going to get my details off the DVLA and contact me to pay a fine. I'm really worried about it I can't afford a parking fine - are they allowed to do this. I got it because I parked in a disabled space - but I only did that because there were no free spaces, only really tiny ones, and I have a baby, and I have to open the door wide to get the car seat in and out, and I didn't want to scratch anyones car!!. Also merry hill has no parent child spaces and I have been told in the past if they don't provide them you can use the disabled spaces. There was loads of free disabled spaces and I parked in the furthest one - I don't mind walking I just didn't want to damage anyones car. What can I do?

  • 1st of all email them and tell them the whole satuation so they will hold your charge till the verdict other wise after 14 days your plenty will be double and you have to pay that on all cost(i think),but if you email them and told them all the satuation then it will be on hold no matter if it stays more then 14 days and they will tell you what to do and you can find their email address on the bit of paper and if you can't then pm me.infact i had the same satuation but instated of disable parking i parked without a ticket and when i email them then they reply and said i shall wiat and then after that i got email again from then in which they say that this time they are not charging me but i should be becarefull next time and yes note that don't pay them 1st cuz if you paid them and then send them email then no way you will get your money back so 1st thing to do is send them email now and finger crossed you won't be charged and yeh geuss wot? i am now sending an email now for my cousin cuz he parked on yellow line and i told him today the same story and he asked me to send an eamil for him so i will do it now and for your this thread i just came accidently any way good luck
  • what happens when the poor disabled person turns up and theres not spaces, and they have to park elsewhere
  • Well, since we can't refer anyone to a site where they may get some decent advice, I guess this is the best they can expect? Shame.
  • You mean you wanted to park close to the shop because you couldnt be arsed to walk and so parked in a disabled bay, and now because someone was !!!!ed off with you and gave you a ticket you want to whinge it's not fair ?
Dont worry you will get all the support from the usual no morals, dont take any responsibility, it's not your fault brigade, and will soon be referred to some other site supporting like minded ignorant people.
Sorry, couldnt give advice you wanted
  • So in your big brother is corrupt and is out to get me mentality, is there no social responsibility we should all abide by to help our fellow human beings ? the simple courtesy of leaving Disabled Bays free for use by disabled, the mother and children bays free for mothers with young children.
Why should we all follow your dog eat dog type of the world, where the laws of the jungle rule, the stuff you jack, I'm Ok and anyone who says I cant do what I like it is wrong. Is this your answer
The why's and wherefores of a ticket company screwing the motorist is not the point here, and I agree they are totally ridiculous in their charges, but please tell me how does this get policed if there is nobody to challenge ignorance? or do we find the ultimate answer of remove all disabled and child friendly bays because we dont accept they are right.
Why should we not accept that this poster just plain can't be arsed to walk, so parks in bays supposedly left free for others who have difficulty in walking.
I take it then that there should be no punishment, if that is the correct word for what is clearly a completely ignorant act ? Sounds like a Mad Max world coming up.
Many will say that disabled bays are abused by people with blue badges who shouldnt be issued with them, and I totally agree it is abused, but just for the few who abuse it should we defend everyones right to abuse it? strange world you live in  oh and big brother really is out to get you
  • I parked in the furthest disabled bay from the entrance and there were loads free otherwise I would not have done it. The reason I parked there is not because I couldn't be arsed to walk I don't mind walking in fact I quite enjoy it. But there was no parking spaces free unless they were really squashed ones and I would not have been able to get the baby seat out of the car - because you have to open the door fully. I totally understand the needs for disabled spaces I have a disabled grandad who has one leg and I would never take a disabled space that prevented a disabled person from parking. But there was 10+ free disabled spaces closer than the one I parked in and the liklehood of 10 disabled people turning up at merry hill needing to park was quite unlikely. If I had parked next to one of you and scratched your car trying to get my baby seat in and out you would not have been best pleased.
  • Go to www.pepipoo.com
  • as you dont mind a walk was this the only car park in the area?
  • at the of the day, you're not disabled. end of. there are MORE than enough spaces in merry hill & i don't believe for one second that every one was full, especially on a tuesday! it was blatantly a case of there were no free spaces in a convenient distance for you to walk!
  • Firstly - I did try other car parks there and there were free spaces but I would not have been able to get the carseat out the car.
Secondly - I went on a Tuesday because I thought it would be quiet and I would be able to park at a far end space on an end so I have plenty of room like I normally do. But it was really really busy!
Thirdly - Calm down people, I have told the truth if you decide not to believe me then that is up to you. But abuse is not really needed it's not like I killed anyone is it
Maybe Merry Hill need to think about providing some parent & baby spaces - and before people rant about me being lazy they can be farthest away for all I care they just need room on both sides to get baby in and out of the car - safely.
  • how do other people manage?
  • The information you are giving is not quite true, there are parent and child spaces at Merry Hill near the Sainsburys and ASDA and also on the top of the old multi storey car park.
Recently there have been LOADS of signs put up advising you will be fined if you don't park in the correct bay. Unfortunately, I have no sympathy.
  • I read in a paper last week sometime that merry hill are clamping down on cars not parked properly etc so probably why u got a ticket
