A question about : Parcel2go Myhermes no free compensation?

Just booked a Ј9.99 value myhermes parcel shop drop off with parcel2go.

The box popped up saying that value was not covered and I have to pay 50p + VAT extra

It appears they no longer offer the Ј20 compensation?

Is this new? guess it's cheaper to book direct with hermes for the Ј50 cover

Best answers:

  • hmmm might have been a website glitch.
Spoke to parcel2go on facebook and they sent me a link and it confirms Ј20 is still standard for hermes
Managed to book the parcel again and it seems to be working!
    phew
  • depends on the goods sending and the size. i usually use the UPS access drop off and this is well covered
  • Unless you have a voucher, going direct to My Hermes is normally the same price and you get Ј50 compensation as standard.
  • On parcel2go's website it says there is now zero standard compensation for myhermes parcels booked under 1K (it was Ј20 cover)
Parcel2go hermes up to 1K weight costs Ј2.34 with zero insurance unless you pay extra + vat
Book direct with hermes up to 1K weight costs Ј2.78 and has Ј50 insurance as standard.
So you can save 44p per parcel and take the risk of no compensation
  • There is zero standard compensation included in the cost of this service but you can opt to cover your parcel up to a maximum of Ј1,000.00
Hermes direct it now the cheapest.
No point using Parcel2Go any more now. Good thing with parcel2go is that most of my parcels are 2kg but I send them as 0.9kg and never had a issue.
  • They've kept this quiet but discovered last night Parcel2go now offer zero compensation if using Myhermes drop off service, bizarrely they still offer Ј20 compensation if using the home pick up service!
P2G had been cheaper with less than 1kg parcels but now cheaper to book direct with Myhermes site again.
  • Threads merged for continuity
  • Zero cover for 1K hermes parcels and the price has gone up to Ј2.15 + vat (from Ј1.95 +vat)
That means it's only 20p cheaper booking through P2G or book direct with hermes for 20p more and get Ј50 cover.
Shame as I was really happy with the P2Go price and Ј20 cover....
  • Or - for just 2p on top of that, you can go Royal Mail (Ј20cover).
  • hermes booked through parcel2go has gone back down to it's original Ј1.95 + VAT price for 1K parcel shop dropoffs
Zero Compensation but it's 44p cheaper than booking direct with hermes
Rarely get a problem with Hermes and say you had a problem with 1 in a 100 parcels that's Ј44.00 of 'self-insurance'
  • 44p saving is appealing, but I can’t place an order with P2G.
I have linked my ebay account, chosen to send with My Hermes, entered parcel dimensions (small) and get a message “This item will not go in this service.”
I can’t find a phone number or an email address so am resorting to asking on here.
Any idea what I am doing wrong?
  • Hermes via parcel2go sometimes say they won't send to certain address / areas of the UK
However if you try to book using the same address direct on the hermes website they can send to that address...
  • I spend about Ј500 per week with P2G, but think I'll move to MyHermes with this drop in cover.
I've currently got a missing item on the 'no compensation' under 1KG service - I've lodged a claim, and let's see what they come back with.
  • Just seen this thread and I have recently had an "incident" with MyHermes . I have an Interparcel account and book pretty much everything with them . I recently sent a plastic coin tray via this service . I knew it was tracked so didn't really pay much attention to the rest as it wasn't really breakable . Basically after a week it hadn't arrived at destination . I checked further and found it was collected from my local shop about 2 1/2 hours after I dropped it off - then the trail goes cold , it appears that the driver collected and has hidden it in his vehicle ! . On contacting Interparcel I received this reply :
Unfortunately we have now been advised by Hermes that they have been unable to locate the consignment and it has consequently been declared as lost in the system.
I would like to take this opportunity to offer my sincerest apologies for the loss of your parcel and for the inconvenience that this may cause to you or your customer. It is a very rare occurrence for an item to be declared as lost, so I am very sorry that it has happened on this occasion.
The Hermes service that you have selected does not include any transit cover and we do advise at the time of booking that in order to ensure that your goods are fully covered an alternative service must be selected from our website.
As you have opted to proceed with this booking, unfortunately your goods are not covered in the event of loss or damage, therefore we are unable to offer any compensation for this loss.
Apologies for any inconvenience caused to you and your customer.
I am pretty shocked by this as I have a copy of the Tracking Record showing the last entry was being collected from the shop , so they know who last had it yet the can't do anything ,the item is no very valuable but there is a point at stake here. I am thinking
Whether insurance is included or not , under the goods and services act 1982 they have a duty to show reasonable care and skill and have not, therefore they are in breach of contract .Any body have any experience in these matters ?
    thanks in advance
