A question about : Painting a fence quote/price (40 panels) ?- what price range to expect ??

for painting a wooden fence, which has many panels by a professional DIY painter, what price range should be expected to be the cost of it, maximum?

Here are the details:
40 panels (well 20 panels, but both sides need to be done)

Might be a 2-3 day job.

Panel sizes are 6 x 6, and a ladder would be needed for this job.

What price ranges would be expected for this job?

and if you are a painter, or had a fence done recently, what maximum price would you suggest not to go above?

Suppose that paint spray machine can be purchased as an alternative to do it yoruself, right?

Best answers:

  • Why are you painting them? Fences are pressure treated wood that needs no painting. They'll look worse for it after the paint starts to wash off and any susequent painting will result in a patchy finish. Plus there's the risk you flick it all over the neighbours side, it dribbles through to their side making theirs look awful etc.
  • Just had a quote for a front fence myself for 7 panels, 1.4m high. Ther eis also a gap in the middle for a gate. The will also have to dig out the old fence posts and put in concrete ones and the cost s Ј2900
I now think it may be cheaper to do it in brick.
  • I used Protek fence stain after somebody on here recommended it. It is easier to apply than paint and you just need a big brush to slap it on. I would say 15 mins per panel side to do and looks great. Paint will look awful after a while.
