A question about : Paid more childcare than I claimed
Hi All,
Question from a newbie - I've received a letter from HMRC/Concentrix about the childcare element of my tax credits, asking for all details about payments, receipts etc from 1/4/14 until 1/2/15.
My question is that during july and august, my childcare went up as a family member was no longer able to help out, but as I didn't know how long it would be for, I didn't tell tax credits. The reason I didn't call them is that when I called before about changes, they asked if the changes were for longer than 4 weeks and if they weren't then they wouldn't make them.
Everything settled down again in September and I informed them of all payment changes then. So for a couple of months, I was claiming for one amount, but actually paying out more so effectively they were underpaying me.
I never had any intention of trying to backdate the claim, but do you think this will cause a problem when concentrix go through my details? I realise that I have under rather than over claimed but I know these companies can be stickler's for everything being correct and the last thing I need is my tax credits being reduced because I didn't update them on everything.
Any advice/words of wisdom appreciated xx
