A question about : Packaged Account Refund when someone has passed away
Hello
I am hoping someone can advise me. My late husband contacted Barclays regarding the mis-sale of a packaged current account. The complaint took Barclays 6 months to provide him with a response. Unfortunately in that time he sadly passed away.
Barclays have agreed to refund Ј1,905.06 and have sent a cheque for this amount in his name. I can't cash the cheque because his account has been closed down. Barclays won't speak with me to due Data Protection.
He died owing about Ј10,000 on credit cards and this refund could be used to help clear his debts. None of the debts are with Barclays.
Can anyone help advise how I can go about obtaining this refund?
Best answers:
- Sorry for your loss.
the executor of the estate becomes the person who can communicate with barclays. They will need a copy of the death certificate and paperwork to show who the executor is.
If you are the executor, then let them know and ask them to explain their process to you. They cant give you personal details until they have the money but they will be able to give you information on what you need to send them.
