A question about : Overnight stay near Bristol

Does anyone have any recommendations for an overnight stay near Bristol? Just something relatively cheap and cheerful. Don't want to venture too far from the M5 title=Smile

Best answers:

  • Premier Inn at the Cribbs Causeway retail park off junction 17 ? I think there's also a Travelodge there too....
  • There's also the Premiere Inn at Portishead, Jct 19 of the M5.
It's right next door to a huge Sainsbury's , their restaurant opens at 8am . Petrol is cheap there too!
  • Peachy is right with the PI having had a recent extension. The travelodge is only a couple of years ol, above a Lidl, and next to a wait rose. There's an interesting place around the corner which is open for b/fast.
  • Just spotted that there is a Morrisons near the Premier Inn at Cribbs Causeway and it has a cafe, so might end up there
  • Portishead is much prettier than Cribbs! I realise that you willbe just travelling through, but it is an interesting town on the edge of the Severn estuary.
  • i get that Portishead is prettier, but if we're arriving about 10pm and leaving at about 9am the next morning, we probably won't see much of anything
  • cribbs premier inn is nr a 24 hour asda with cafe
portishead premier inn is nr a sainsburys that's open til 10 and next door to a Brewster fayre pub/restaurant
  • Ok. Get that. Another plus for portishead is that you willbe the correct side of the Avonmouth bridge.
It is relatively easy to rejoin the m-way at j20 so missing the accident hotspot between 19 & 20!
  • If you're leaving at 9am, definitely Portishead. The traffic around Cribbs Causeway in the morning can be horrific.
Also, which way are you going? If north to south Portishead is past all the traffic hotspots. South to north, won't make too much difference, except you won't have the Cribbs Causeway traffic to deal with just to get back on the M5.
But is sounds as if you've made your mind up on Cribbs!
  • Ive stayed here a few times over the years https://www.foxgoosepub.co.uk/
Although it is a bit off the m5, better for airport access. Just south of Bristol on the A38
  • I think it depends on where the OP is actually heading to, along with when (day/time of year). I wouldn't want to be trying to get to J19 at that time of the morning during the week. However, at the weekend, portishead is no more than 7 mins from the m-way.
Nor would I want to be staying at Cribbs on a weekend at the height of summer.......
