A question about : Ocado?

Has anyone shopped with online supermarket Ocado?

I'm thinking of registering to use them as they offer 20% off first shop.

Just wondering if anyone has had good/bad experiences with them?

Best answers:

  • Ocado delivery is excellent. Helpful and polite drivers. Much better than any other I have found.
  • Thanks littleowl. Might give it a go then
  • Love Ocado - excellent customer service, so you never have to worry about what might go wrong with your delivery, they always put it right. Most of the time you get what you order, as if it's not in stock you can't put it in your basket. Give it a go!
  • Yes Ocado great. One year with my Christmas order a joint of meat I wanted was out of stock and the driver was instructed to buy it at a rival supermarket and offer it to me. Amazing service!
  • I have had many deliveries and they have always been good. Customer service is really good and I like the fact you can see the minimum shelf life of the products.
I would do an order and then wait, they will soon be in touch with other offers. I currently have 6 months free delivery pass. I make the best use of their offers and their web site in my opinion is very easy to follow. They also have things that are difficult to get elsewhere.
Try it I think you will be impressed.
  • I was sent a voucher for Ј20 off a Ј40 spend which was perfect for me; bulk bought stuff for a month without breaking the bank and got to test out the service. Really rate it- the driver was polite, no moaning about how hard their day was/how little sleep they'd had...etc and no substitutions which was a relief, so few other online orders from supermarkets get any of these right.
If I was able to afford to (money too tight at the moment to bulk-buy) I'd order again and even contemplate paying for the delivery. This is not something I'd really consider with other supermarkets (Sainsburys, Asda, Tesco- I've tried them all without success and in fact ended up more stressed out in the end) unless they sent out a pretty decent discount to compensate the stress!
  • I love Ocado, I was given a Ј20 off first spend voucher plus a free smart pass for a year, so free delivery tues - thurs. They are always on time, polite drivers, rarely substitute items and they promise to be cheaper than Tesco.
Also check out their facebook page for freebies, this week i've got a free pie and chutney worth Ј9, i've also had curry, beer, smoothies etc and a free bottle of champagne with my 5th shop.
Love them! I only started using them in August after having a baby and wouldn't go back! I also think our shopping bill is cheaper as i have to plan for a week and so we save money and have left waste.
If you have a friend that shops with them if they refer you they and you will get a discount.

  • I really like Ocado, I've ordered from them quite a few times and I've never had any problems or substitutions. The drivers are always polite and helpful, and I've never had an issue with them being late. I also like the fact that Ocado stock a really wide range of stuff, much of which I can't get locally. The fruit and veg lasts for ages too. It can be a little expensive but that really does depend on what you buy - and at least you can see how much you've spent with the online trolley!
  • I'm due to have my second Ocado delivery tomorrow. I had a Ј20 off your first shop and free delivery voucher which persuaded me to give it a go....then for my second shop they sent me a free 3 month smart pass (free deliveries) and a voucher for Ј5 off Ј40 spend. I've also had a voucher for a free 'weekly essentials' pack but didn't bother with that because it was mostly stuff I didn't need. I mostly bought things that were on offer so with the money off vouchers and free delivery it worked out quite cheap - the quality of the products and the service were both excellent. I found the driver very pleasant and they carry the shopping in to the kitchen for you rather than dump it on the doorstep which is nice. (much better than sainsburys who not only dumped the shopping a the door but also managed to pack raw chicken in a bag with fresh salad/veg!)
I don't think I'd do all my shopping with them though because I quite like going to the shops to have a browse and pick up things as I need them and find online grocery shopping quite hard work. I think I'll use them from time to time when there are good offers on or around the holidays when the shops are manic and best avoided.
  • Ocado is the best for me. I tried them all with the money off the first shop. For me it was a toss up between Tesco and Ocado but in the end Ocado has been consistently great. I have never had a substitution or missing item from Ocado whereas Tesco there was always subs.
PS. If you like curry, on Ocado look for a product called holy cow. Seriously the best curry sauce I've ever bought. They're that good I'm going through the whole range.
  • We love Ocado. I have my favourite products that I order time and time again and I always seem to save quite a bit with each order. Top quality products.
  • I have online shopped with Tesco and Ocado. Ocado are the best by a mile and even if you pay for delivery you can choose options to reduce the cost, like later in the evening or when the van is in your area anyway.
  • Love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love ocado!
  • Brilliant in every way.
I have been using them for several years. They just get better and better. Over the last year every single item I have requested has been delivered and every delivery has been on time.
Because they have an automated dedicated warehouse their stock control is reliable, it is not someone wandering around with a trolley (which is why Tesco's delivery service is so poor).
It is possibly more expensive but the range of goods is amazing and they price match with Tesco for some items.
    I highly recommended Ocado.
  • the stock control system is great - it knows what will be in stock and how many, and I have never had a substitution or missing item in 2 years.
  • Another here who loves Ocado. They can do no wrong in our eyes - helpful polite drivers, great customer service, no subs or missing items. They are just fab!
  • Ocado for me all the time now. I have tried Asda ( too many silly substitutions), Tesco ( cannot rely on stuff being available), Waitrose (very good, lots of freebies, excellent products and delivery, but moved me to another store for deliveries and it all went downhill poor dates etc). Tried Ocado in February this year and very pleased. I have a delivery every week and have only ever had one substitution. They have an excellent choice of goods and I have never been disappointed with quality. The delivery is very efficient, drivers friendly and helpful, I always have the shopping in the bags put on my kitchen worktop.
  • Well the secret is out,,and that is what it has been for some time...a hidden secret. There is no doubt that Ocado is king of on line grocery delivery and best of all, they price match with Tesco. Any issues with missing/damaged items? Not a problem,,email CS and they refund.
