A question about : Npower monthly online price fix tariff start date

My current Npower online price fix (Feb 15) tariff is about to expire, and after comparing, I want to switch to a new 15 month long fixed tariff with Npower.

The current 15 month tariff takes me to May 16. Does anyone know when the June 16 tariff will be introduced? I'm wondering whether to wait until 28th Feb / 1st March when my current fix expires, or if it will be after this date?

Best answers:

  • I wanted to know this, as mine ends with npower at the end of Feb too. So I looked for the date the current Fixed Price May 2016 was announced / effective from, which was 2nd Feb.
So I'm guessing on the 2nd March, the Fixed Price June 2016 will be announced / effective from.
Now if your tariff ran out at the end of Feb, and it automatically swapped to the standard tariff for a couple of days, then you switched to the new Fixed Price June 2016, is there a catch? Would they force you onto the standard tariff for a whole month, or would you only be charge the standard tariff for a few days?
If anyone knows, then please let us know.
  • It doesn't matter when the short fix tariffs start, as leaving is penalty free and you can just switch when a better tariff crops up.
I changed to November 2016 before my November 2015 was up, then have changed my gas (January 2016), electricity( April 2016) and gas again (May 2016), since, as with each new edition, changing gas, electricity, then just gas again, were the best options for me.
Changing takes very little time and means you also get an up to date bill.
