A question about : NPower Engineer not turned up

Hi all,

I had booked an NPower engineer to come and replace the gas meter in our house (the one we have is so old, it's the clocks type and it's taken me well over a year to get them to agree to replace it).

He was meant to be here this morning, between 8am - 1pm. I confirmed it on Friday. Now he's not turned up, and NPower are not responding to my messages on Twitter (they're usually pretty good at responding on there, hence why it's my first port of call).

The time is now 3.30pm, and no engineer. If he doesn't turn up at all, I've wasted a day's holiday.

What are my rights in this situation? If any?

Thanks

  • There's no need for that! I happen to find twitter more effective at getting companies to do stuff - particularly NPower. I have succeeded there numerous times where phone calls and emails have failed. I am on the phone to them now and have been on hold for over half an hour, so it's justifiable to use twitter first as they normally respond really quickly on there.
Do you have anything helpful to add on the 'rights' question?
  • Look at the Failed Delivery? Fight Back! article at the top of this page. Yes, your situation is slightly different, but the same principle holds true.
  • Npower are the worst i waited in all day just before christmas and they never bothered to turn up. They will not believe my meter readings despite me doing them hourly to prove i am on an old tarifff that used 2 hours of night economy electricity between 2 -4 during the day, as well as the normal night economy electricity. Option tariff 14 . Very frustrating to say the least now 5 months later they still havent given me a bill.
  • You are entitled to some compensation for a missed appointment https://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/b...pensation.html
  • So we finally got the meter changed this morning. DH had to work from home, and the engineer said our meter was made in 1969!
We received Ј45 in compensation for the missed appointment too.
All organised via their (actually rather helpful) twitter team!
  • Heeelp, company not replying to my urgent query on twitter
    LOL
Well if they don't reply on twitter, you'll get a quicker response by phoning them than messaging the good people of MSE.
    Brilliant stuff.
