A question about : Any help gratefully received please
Hubbie has lost his job and I work only 10 hours per week. Like most people we have a mortgage and bills to pay. Basically where do we go for help, what can we get help with and also we have two young children. Many thanks

- Dependent on your husbands NI contributions he could get 6 months Contribution Based Job Seekers Allowance. Also we assume you are getting Child Benefit and Child Tax Credits. If your husband was getting Working Tax Credits you will need to inform them within a month of the change.
You need to contact Job Centre Plus and Tax Credits. If you go onto www.direct.gov.uk they will have fact sheets on these. - You see, this is exactly why the idea of a separate board for CAB is not necessarily a good one. Had this been posted on the benefits board I can guarantee that long before this someone would have provided you with the answer that you need, which is to use the Benefits Calculator here:
