A question about : Can anyone advise me what to do about a letter from Mackenzie Hall/Meritforce?
Hi,
I've received a letter this morning from Mackenzie Hall advising a doorstop collector from Meritforce will be calling within the next 10 days regarding a debt from Barclaycard to the tune of Ј2,836.01
The thing about this is that I've never had a Barclaycard.
The name on the letter is mine and there is a phone number on the letter to call if you are not the named person but I don't really want to speak on the phone to these people.
What would be the best course of action?
Best answers:
- Ignore them. Simple as that.
- search on here for the letter that revokes the right for them to undertake a doorstep visit (think it is a 1959 law) only allows people asking directions and postman/women.
send them that! - might also be worth getting your credit file and seeming what is on it and who has been searching you. forwarned is forarmed!
- Nothing to be concerned about. It's unlikely that anyone will come round anyway.
If someone does just calmly explain that you will not be discussing anything with a stranger on the doorstep and close the door.
I wouldn't waste a stamp on them.
