A question about : Car parking in Cardiff city center

We are travelling to Cardiff in Nov (14-17) and staying at Holiday Inn. The hotel charges Ј10 per 24 hours, which I think it is quite steep espcially for a conference delegate. Does anyone know any cheaper alternative car parks in the area?

  • To be honest I think Ј10 for 24 hrs is probably a bargain in Cardiff - I know one car park charges 80p per 15 mins !
  • i agree with the above - wont travel to cardiff unless i have to, we stayed for an hour the other day and got charged a fiver! For an hour! We always take the park and ride when we can, train or shop elsewhere!
  • Totally agree with above, we go up by train were possible we were charged for just under 2 hours 8.50!!!
Must find the park and ride as a cheaper alternative next time.
  • I got free car parking outside the Atlantic Wharf Travelodge over the summer-I think the hotel had some sort of free car park arrangement anyway, but there was a space right outside reception that I just nipped into and saved the bother. That's a bus ride from the city centre, though.
  • Ј10 is an absolute bargain for 24hr parking in the centre of Cardiff. The hotel is next to the Millennium Stadium, across the road from the castle, yards away from the river and a 5 minute walk away from the new St Davids 2 shopping development, so you'd be hard pushed to find a better place to park your car! There's always the option of leaving your car in a residential area further away from the centre, but then you'd have to take a bus or taxi into town (all single journeys cost Ј1.50 by bus), and then you wouldn't have the peace of mind of knowing your car is securely parked in the hotel car park. Another option is the train perhaps; Cardiff is only 2 hours away from London after all, and the train station is a short walk along the Millennium Walkway from the hotel. Even better, the Megabus stops outside the castle which is practically opposite the hotel!
  • whenever we go into cardiff we park by the museum this is cheaper than any of the story car parks

Mum always uses the Park and Ride at Companies House which is well signposted as you come into Cardiff from the A470 end.
I also know that there is Park and Ride at the Council offices down in Atlantic Wharf.
I think all Park and Ride buses stop at the bus stop at the top end of Greyfriars Rd, by the Hilton.
  • We used the Park N Ride by Companies House yesterday.
Ј3 all day, buses every 10 minutes. Yes picked up at the top of Greyfriars road by the Hilton.
Plenty of room in the multi-story.
    Great service.
  • Beware, park&ride mon to friday from New Cardiff City football ground is Ј3 per person.
  • The most convenient street parking in central Cardiff is ‘pay & display’ parking machines along Park Lane & Windsor Place, mere 5 minutes walk away from Cardiff Castle – Ј3 for 5 hours - CF10 3BZ.
If these parking spaces are taken, you are well advised to try St Andrews Crescent, across Dumfries Lane / Stuttgart Strasse –
All these cost only Ј3 for FIVE HOURS of parking in central Cardiff and parking is FREE after 6pm – thus, arrive AFTER 1pm and park until the following day for only Ј3! Post code CF10 3DB or see map.

Capitol Shopping Centre Cardiff SUNDAY & WHOLE WEEKEND parking is cheapest:
Its on the North end of Queen Street - enter via Churchill Way (CF10 2HD).
where all-day parking from 10am on Sundays costs a mere Ј2.
Cardiff Weekend Parking from 6pm Friday until Sunday is only Ј15.
    Parking M
onday to Saturday: Up to 4 hours parking is a very reasonable Ј5.
After 6pm secure parking until the following morning costs Ј1.

    Parking at
St David 2 centre Cardiff is only reasonable up to 5 hours:
Ј3 up to 2 hours; Ј4 up to 3 hours; Ј5 up to 4 hours Ј6 up to 5 hours.
NOTE: parking after 5pm has now risen to Ј2 (until 6am).
Greyfriars Road Cardiff multi-story parking charges per 2 hours
