A question about : New show on TV about sewing

Did anyone see the trailer for a new TV show about sewing? It was on last night but I did not see when it is on.

Best answers:

  • No, but would be interested.
  • I caught the trailer - think its called The Great British Sewing Bee and its on BBC2 starting April

  • Will be worth watching, good to see practical programmes on the tv!
  • Fantastic!! I inherited a sewing machine and had it all checked out last summer - foot pedal started smoking! Know it's ok now and have made a simple bag from a tea towel for my dad when he's fishing to put the caught fish in. Have been building up a bag of "scrap" material ( old clothes / holey clothes) so i can practice / recycle....
Shd be well worth a watch.....
  • I was getting quite excited until you mentioned Claudia Winkleman. She so annoys me! Don't know why, she just does! X
  • Ugh, why is Claudia Winkleman on it?
No doubt we will see her with one of her many smock dresses on with her fringe needing a good trim
  • I think, she thinks it will stop us noticing she has very small eyes. It anything it makes it more noticeable.
  • Its like watching a labrador puppy trying to present television. I actually don't mind her style on some programmes but I'm not convinced that it will work on something with a practical subject matter like sewing.
  • well I think that she's great and my personnal theory on the fringe is that without it she's the spit of her Mum and she probably wants to be known as her own person
Looking forward to a sewing programme but think it'll be even more difficult to pitch it t a level to please all than cookery
  • One of the presenters is a lady called May Martin who is very experienced and runs a lot of sewing classes for beginners.
  • Looks great and I may be in the minority, but I love Claudia
  • BBC2 on Tuesday at 8pm
Just saw a slightly longer trailer and it looks like Claudia's fringe has been trimmed
Might not be so off putting now lol
  • Did any body else watch it then?
  • Thought it was going to be a disaster but the entire family enjoyed it, even hubby who spent the first five minutes taking the mick then settled into it and finally had to admit it was good! Made a refreshing change to watch something different instead of yet another reality programme! I love sewing and have made a career out of it so found it very interesting. I have to say though if that's the best sewers the UK has to offer its a bit of a worry! x
  • Oh also the guy in it is SERIOUS totty and worth watching next week, if only to ogle him! An air of Mr Selfridge about him I thought mmmmmm x
