A question about : New Internal Doors inc Frames & redecoration

Evening all,
We are currently having prices undertaken to replace our door frames, architraves, doors (4 downstairs and 8 upstairs) and also redecoration to the downstairs and upstairs hallway including skim plastering to all walls.

We have received the following quote and we would be very appreciative for any comments/feedback

• Carefully remove existing door liners, architrave and hallway skirting. Ј100.00
• Cart away old doors, frames and architrave to skip. Ј120.00
• Materials including o door liners (4 x oak veneered and 8 x pine),
o doors (4 oak (2No Mexicana oak, 1No Mexicana oak pre glazed & 1No oak internal flush door, 8No four panel pine fine no knots),
o door furniture - zenith premium door pack & thumb turn/latch to two WCs
o architrave (30m oak & 51m MDF),
o 7m 4''bullnose oak skirting,
o fillers, screws, paints, stain, varnish etc. Ј2,035.94• Fit new door liners (4 x oak veneered and 8 x pine). Ј330.00
• Fit new doors x 12 including hinges, handles and latches. Ј840.00
• Bathroom locks X2 will be an extra Ј10 per lock fitting. Ј20.00
• Fit 86 linear metres of bullnose architrave, and 7m of skirting Ј265.00
• Fill pine frames and architrave with appropriate filler and sand. Wipe down all wood work before painting with white spirits. Paint 8 liners and architraves both sides of opening white/ Stain 8 pine doors x 2 coats to match oak doors as close as possible. Varnish 4 oak doors and 4 associated liners in 3 coat work. Varnish 7m of oak skirting. Ј950.00
• Plastering work to all walls and ceilings to upstairs hallway stairwell and landing (ceiling area 2mx3.8m). Which also includes preparing walls (inc remove existing lining paper), re boarding ceilings, adjusting loft hatch and change architrave for new, new coving and electrical works for new light fitting using existing wiring - Ј1470
• As above but for the downstairs hallway (ceiling area 5mx1.1m & 3new LED spot lights (supplied by us)) - Ј630
• Underside of stairs (squeaking) - Ј180
• Remove existing balustrading and replace with Trademark White Oak Stop Chamfer works supply and fit (includes 3m of balustrade at first floor, see material list below). - Ј1598.

• almost 850 to fit doors?? Seems very excessive to me..
• You need other quotes.
• Oh dear, could I suggest to find a decent tradesman you could check with your local council maybe who does work on council house refurbs etc, maybe get name of good reputable firm and get quote, that's what my daughter did north of London, she was dealing with thieving cowboys and then got the real deal decent tradesmen, think initially cowboys fitting 5 doors/hinges-no replacement doorframe needed =Ј1300 versus Ј300 for a days work with the experts, glad she took advice and researched a bit more....saved her heartache and a lot of money....great end result of quality work at a decent price.
