A question about : M&S travellers cheques

I've just signed up for a M&S credit card and been given a healthy credit limit which I want to stooze using m&s sterling travellers cheques. However they are being very vague about the denominations of tc's I can order. I tried the on line process and didn't seem to have an option for selecting Ј500 denominations, my local stores bureau de change said Ј200 maximum denomination and on the phone they said they couldn't gaurantee what denominations would be delivered. I don't want masses of cheques to sign twice.

What has been other peoples experience?

Best answers:

  • Ordering online 3 days ago in 3 batches (to get round the Ј2500 limit) triggered a phone call from m&s this morning. Thought it was all going wrong for a moment but all for the best in the end.
  • Lloyds tsb took them without a problem. All transfers in place to fund an A&L 1 year 3.5% isa on friday.
  • I thought travellers cheques counted as 'cash', so not suitable for stoozing?
  • I paid mine into a local Halifax branch back in early June 2011, they asked me a few questions (for prevention of money laundering) I said UK holiday had been cancelled.
  • I did tell the LTSB manager what I was doing because I had so many tc's to sign at the desk I was causing a hold up and was invited in to his office to finish signing there. He was very impressed and tried to sell me their ISA to put it in but it wasn't as good as the santander one I had already chosen.
  • By the way, I paid Ј3600 worth into HSBC with no questions asked and no fees applied
  • Hey I have just got the M&S card and am going to be paying of my dad by giving him some money in the form of their Travellers cheques.
I was under the impression that the travellers cheques counted towards the 15 month 0% interest so I could save up and pay in month 14. But on the website it says that there is only 55 days' interest-free credit which has confused me a little??
  • Awesome thanks for clarifying that blitzboy, now just got to wait for the card and see what limit they have given me.
  • Thanks guesswho2000 I had know about the 1% and on Ј2500 that's only Ј25 which is a damn site better than all the other cards. Hence me going for this one, just hope there is no hassle with my dad's barclays account when i give in the cheques!!
And thanks for the tip blitzboy as I do have a letter with my card number on so will give them a ring and see if they say my limit. Did you just call the customer services number or another one?
