A question about : Moisturiser for baby's face

Any recommendation what moisturiser can be used for a 2 yrs toddler with sensitive skin and eczema prone. Dr prescribed Dermo 500, but am looking for something for his face. Have used aveeno baby before and he seems to react to it. Thanks

Best answers:

  • The drs prescribed epaderm for us, and it works a treat on baby owls face!!
  • My son is 29 now and mainly eczema free but he had awful skin as a baby, we used Unguentum Merck by the gallon I have just googled and it's still available. I also bathed him in Oilatum Emollient which made a wriggling baby very hard to handle..
  • I've always got a pot of epiderm here for when my two (especially DS) get sore skin.
    Jx
  • Pure potions skin salvation. It is the only thing which cleared up my daughters eczema. Can't rate this product enough. Can buy from amazon or the nappy lady (they do sometimes have offers on their own site but dispatch is really slow IMO).
  • Oilatum? You can get it on prescription.
  • Another vote for Pure Potions, I used it on DS's excema when he was a baby and myself when I get the odd patch. I gave some to my 17yr old nephew who had suffered since childhood, and it cleared it up for the first time ever for him. Strongly recommend. It's a natural product too, and good to put on a baby's cheeks in this cold weather when out and about.
  • have you tried coconut oil
  • Bought pure lotion, he does not like it and will not let me put it on his face, cries when he sees me approaching with the jar. It is a very thick green paste and am not keen on it myself but am glad it suits some people. Thanks
  • Organic sunflower oil was suggested by my health visitor (DD was very overdue and quite dry). My midwife got me a huge pot of diprobase which DD got on her hands, went into her mouth and made her quite poorly. Stupid woman.
  • I use Weleda products on my daughter who has sensitive skin and is quite 'rashy'. The normal baby range (calendula) has always been good but we've recently been trying what I think is a newer range for even more sensitive baby skin, the one with white mallow. It seems to work even better for her.
  • Have you tried shea butter.
  • One Diglet got fearsome chapped cheeks in the wind - the pharmacist suggested Neutrogena & when we got over the shock of How Much, even a small tube kept him whole & happy all winter.
This is where the joy of samples-requested-by-email may kick in.
    All the best!
  • Another thumbs up for Epiderm!! I get Epiderm on prescription for my 4 yo son. He has really dry skin that chaps easily (especially at this time of year) and nothing else I've tried comes close to how clear and healthy his skin looks when we use this. We use this instead of soap at bathtime. Can't recommend highly enough :-)
If your LO is fussy get them to help put it on. Put a little on the palm of your hand and encourage them to "dip" their finger in and rub it (gently!) into their cheeks. If they can see themselves in a mirror whilst they do this it a great game!
  • Aveno cream and bath oil can be given on prescription which is ok. I find that with pure potions I put it on the back of my hand to melt before spreading, goes on easily then.
