A question about : Mis-sold package by Talktalk?

Some time ago Talktalk called me regarding my phone/broadband package. I just had the standard phone/broadband and at the time I had pre-paid my line rental (which has now run out and I am paying monthly full price). They offered me the basic TV package for free and said it was basically the same as I was on at the time and the same price but I would get free TV and be signing up to a contract. I was happy with Talktalk and wasn't planning on changing so signed up, even though I wasn't fussed about TV.

Looking at my account now I am on the Essentials TV package and paying Ј25.20 (Essentials TV Ј8.50 plus Ј16.70 line rental) a month plus calls. But this isn't the same as I would have been on which would have just been the simply broadband which is Ј3.50 a month plus Ј16.70 line rental.

My contract is until March 2016 and they have said there is a Ј50 fee if I want to downgrade (I just asked on livechat).

Perhaps more fool me for not checking this when I originally signed up however I honestly believed that they were putting me on the most basic plan and the TV was free. Is there anything I can do about this now? I am happy to stay with them, I just want to downgrade to what I was originally on, so just the broadband and line rental. I rarely watch the TV or make calls, I really just have this for the broadband.

  • Thanks, how would you recommend I should do this? Should I write, and would email be sufficient or should I send a letter?
  • Thank you, I will give that a try.
