A question about : MG

So here we are again - setting off on a new thread as we have exhausted the post count on our previous thread The Matrix Re-Evolution - but as you can see we are still keeping up with our Matrix inspired theme.

Quick catch up to help you get up to speed with some of the chat occurring:

When we get stuck - we revert to doing stuff in 15 minute chunks - because we believe that we can do anything for 15 minutes.

Loads of us have read The Secret and we are taking baby steps towards being more positive thinkers and having better expectations that the universe will provide for us what we need if not what we want.

We are all a work in progress.

We also talk a lot about Frogs - that's from a book by Brian Tracey called Eat That Frog and its about doing the scariest thing on your to-do list first thing in the day to get it over and done with.

We have a private forum (called The Matrix) which was set up to keep all the chat about our businesses, start-ups and mentoring from a group of Personal Development Guru's and otherwise off this forum so as not to breach its rules. This is a secure, invisible to the internet, forum so anything we say or explore on there is confidential.

So what's going to be our challenge on this thread? ............. well lots of us have had a pretty rough time financially in the past and that's where we start - but we are more about bringing abundance into our lives in every way that focusing on how poor we are. We like to remind people we are skint, not broke!! Skint is temporary, broke is permanent.

We also love a challenge - these ladies have supported some of us to DFW Status (Ј10k in 22 months) and are now encouraging others to explore starting sideline business, pay off their mortgages or just simply getting more cheerful about the challenge of living in a recession. So if you want to play, jump on in.

Our Motto - Together we can do anything - and together we have done some amazing projects.

Here's to a positive and supportive DFW journey with the MG - The Matrix Re-wired The title refers the fact that we can choose to re-wire our thought and attitudes ourselves and move forward at any time towards a more compelling future. It also refers to the fact that I am currently rewiring my DS2's bedroom to give him a lovely room for Christmas.

So pour yourself a cuppa, bake some hob nobs and pull up a chair to join in - although be warned................

WE CAN STILL REALLY TALK !!!!!

  • YAY! to new challenges and a nice shiny re-wired thread.
    Thanks MG!
  • Would love to join this one.
I started on the last one then son came from Australia then a few things happened that through us.
So now I need to get back on track again and bring more abundance in to our lives.
  • Ah, here we are.... hello... (nothing more to add than that really :$)
  • There you all are
Starting the new thread with an expensive day. Going to get my hair cut and coloured but it is my birthday treat. (Does anyone else have to get their hair done two weeks before they have a special day out because it looks at its best two weeks after a cut?)
Keep trying to tell my OH we can put more insulation in the loft a la MG and we only need lots of tights to keep it in place but he doesn't believe me. Do you have pictures?
    Welcome again Kimsmum.
  • Mornin' all.
Woo hoo to a shiny new thread
Nuts to no-show house viewers Groatie but yay to a lovely clean house.
Positive thoughts going out to all those on-strike / affected by strikes today.
Off to tackle some 15-min tasks, Thriftyxxx
  • I'm pleased with myself for phoning the bank yesterday to change my account. I was in financial poo a few years ago and ever since then I've needed a few deep breaths before feeling up to phoning them. At least they've stopped shouting my balance at me, whether I want to hear it or not.
Today... not sure yet. Housework I suppose, which definitely has to be done in 15 minute chunks. In fact it might need to be smaller chunks than that still. It depends how well I feel and I won't know until I make a start. OH said he's going to take our son out to the park this morning, so that might give me some TIME TO MYSELF!!! I might even have a shower in peace...
    I hope everyone's having a good day
  • Yay! Found you! Going to post on the other thread with this thread's address so everyone can come on over and join the party!!
Not much to report here, although there doesn't seem to be too many people on picket lines at the moment. I have had to go around particular buildings and see if lecturers were in/out of their appointed lecture and seminar rooms.
  • Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeehaaaaaaaaaaaaa, shiny, sparkly new thread, just in time for the shiny, sparkly event that is Xmas.
I kind of lost my way a little bit Matrix wise, it seemed that all I ever had to say was dark stuff and felt a little bit that it was bringing the thread down, but am in a much better place now, so hopefully will be able to contribute, even if its just my, sometimes inane ramblings. Lol.
Still got loads of stuff going on including a house move, (don't ask). But I will not give up my beloved Leyla, so its taking its time. But its looking good. Saturday is my 6 MONTH NO SMOKING anniversary yay.
I actually got this far (how did the font change, cos I didnt do it on purpose lol). So onwards and upwards for us all, welcome to newbies and lurkers (lurkers please join in, the more the merrier).
    Fantasia xxxxx
  • Congratulations fantasia
Need to get my act together. I've had breakfast, so need to head to the post office, shop and maybe book bank... And then stop in the village for a coffee ... I really should go into town today too. I need to try to finish Christmas shopping and drop off dry cleaning. Oh... And take the dead microwave to the tip. The weather looks like being good today, so it might be a good idea to get some outside stuff done. And I need to make a call about getting the utility room finished and the trees shortened.
  • Lovely sunny day - and as I need to be home for DS (school shut) - I've happily acquired another small person for the day. Both are now playing happily and it seems that for now I'm not needed
So I've some time extra at home this week and will do as much as I can - flung some laundry about and going to dig through to my desk in the dumping grounds aka my home office.
And its payday so best pay some bills, and see what's left for Christmas presents (only a few left to sort). And find those receipts for the expenses claim I need to submit..
    Moam
  • Nice shiny clean thread - just like my house will be the end of strike day - already got shiny new brown (no longer white and curly) hair, doing nails later and dh is throwing stuff around the house to tidy it.
Have listened to a lot of news about strikes today and grrrrr at a lot of it and am now trying to find a way to make up the Ј330 I am going to lose per month once all the changes come in. I am NOT going to be teaching in front of a class when I am 68 - it is not fair to me, not fair to all those young teachers who will be unable to find work, and most of all not fair to the children. So operation money making is going to start in earnest. (PS I have no problem going into other work later in life but the actual stand up teaching in front of a class will too demanding physically and emotionally when I am a Granny)
  • My biggest goal is to get this second draft chapter done and off to my supervisors on Friday of this week. I have about 2000 words to go, but a lot to tidy / rewrite. I am getting tired because I have worked every weekend on it for over a month. Also this week there are some things to do for this PhD conference I am co-organising in January. On Saturday my sister paid for OH and I to have lunch at a Jamie Oliver restaurant for our wedding present, so that a really big reward
Next week I have to write a short conference paper for 12th December for said conference. Then I have to start writing chapter 3 which will be due at the end of January. I would also like to re-write chapter 1 a bit for writing group.
Also I have some end of year challenges, I wanted to make my own sausages, make myself a pencil case and make my Gran a patchwork cushion cover for Christmas. Plus declutter the junk cupboard. A few bits are on ebay but I think it's got to be car boot for the rest. I found one you don't even need a car for! Hope to do that before Christmas.
  • oh would love to join you all.
Have seen teh previous thread but never managed to get in from the start to have a hope of following!
I love that the thread is about being positive - it is something I struggle with and am hoping to stay focused on it with you all.
  • Hello, another one like Minnime here, have seen bits of the previous threads and know a little bit about what you're 'about', but never managed to keep up. Hoping to do so with this one! Looking to inject some positivity (and action) into my life after a really tough year and there seems to be plenty of it round here!
(And one of my fave and most inspirational MSEers Lara44 is here too, so it must be good!)
