  • I'm concerned that obtaining a full refund under the "Section 75" rule may be a problem. On MFI receipts every part of our bebroom furniture is itemised and quite a few items come in at under Ј100. We are still waiting for cabinet feet and plinths that may never be delivered and although the total amount of the undelivered items comes to going on for Ј200 they are all itemised at less than Ј100 on our receipt. I think that the credit card companies attitude to this principle may have a real bearing on how much money is refunded to MFI customers. I could imagine that, for instance, that a kitchen purchase would have a large amount of parts that would be itemised at less tham the Ј100 limit. Would a refund only apply to individual parts priced at over Ј100?
    Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
  • I bought my kitchen in May under the pay nothing till next year at 0% over 3 years.
    I received a letter yesterday from the administrators kroll advising me that blcak horse will not finance this . I have been given 3 options . Pay in full and receive 10% off. Get a loan or credit card and pay it or go through black horse at there rate.
    Problems i have are.
    All options in the long run are going to cost me more money, i only bought with them because of the deal of 0%. I only bought my new house in may and my partner has just had another baby. So money is tight.
    Also there are defects to the kitchen appliances , the oven doesnt work propperly , dishwasher leaks and the extractor fan still has no charcoal filters. Rendering it useless. Who do i go to for replacment or to be fixed ?
    Any help or advice would be appreciated. Also i do feel sorry for the mfi staff who have lost there jobs and hope they find somthing quickly

  • i paid Ј5500 on monday.... for fitted kitchen to be delivered on the 11th and fitted on the 15th. i paid on 2 credit cards (amex and barclaycard) i have phoned them noth to advise of possible claim, Amex were great, sending forms out and said if not sorted by time the bill comes to not pay it (just pay the other bits) and they would waive the interest, whereas barclaycard are not interested until the goods dont actually turn up!
    anyway - the wosrt thing (for me) is not knowing - if i knew they werent coming i would go and order somewhere else, and if i knew they were coming i would book the time off work! my kitchen surveyor suggested the goods may be delivered and that MFI may refund the fitting charge (which was free!!) and we pay the fitters direct.
    as B&Q are offering same kitchen with 10% discount, can i cancel this now? not that i can b bothered to b honest.... but would i be able to if i wanted to
  • there is virtually no stock movement at the present time.
    The delivery companies have not been paid!
    The administrators have to study what stock is there and what isn't, and work out a plan of what to do!
    So you need to make sure you phone in on the numbers on the website to get up to date information
  • i have had most of my kitchen there are about 15 items missing i paid 2200 on amex and 2300 with my halifax credit card where do i stand on my refund,i dont want to give the kitchen back if i havent had my money back,And someone have said about the 100.00 limit there are some items under 100.00 do i get a refund on the items,i bought all the items in one so i would have thought i would have a full refund
  • What I can't work out is when to approach my credit card company, I'm still hoping that they can fulfil the order as it already had a confirmed delivery date in December.
    Also, because of numerous !!!!-ups with the complete order, the item that I'm waiting for was ordered for me free of charge (owing to the sales rep making a complete pigs ear of it)...so I really don't know where I stand at all with regard to a refund. The fact of the matter is that I will need to source the item if it cannot be fulfilled so I'm hoping that I am entitled to a refund.
  • i was also told i would be paid 300.00 for all the hassle but i wont be getting that,i was told by my credit card customer that as soon as i recieve the administrator letter saying that the order will not be fulfilled i should send it on to the credit card company and they can start the ball rolling
  • i have phone both credit card companies a few days ago, AMEX were great they said i am fully covered and all intrest would not be charged untill it is sorted out ,Halifax one were less helpful they said i was covered but they were told mfi were going to forfil all orders and intrest would be added,i am lucky i can pay them off.as for the kitchen its still in my front room fully boxed

    Hi. I'm in the same boat although I haven't had a letter yet from Black Horse. Do they say in the letter when you have to pay them?

    MFI = ...aarrghh!
    Dont believe this has happened, was very wary after the first administration buyout 2 months ago....looked everywhere for furniture, but saddly MFI are the only place that offers half decent looking 90cm wide bedroom wardrobe units - So I placed an order with some other cabinets, got stiffed by the dubious sales flakey, went home checked order against internet prices,...went back and reclaimed Ј150 from him for overcharging after his apparent Ј55 applied discount too!! muppet. Ј205 on top overall - nice try.
    Anyway....got that sorted, and now all this.....administration, and not looking good again.
    Total order eventually corrected to ~Ј700+ without an apology either for trying it on - paid via credit card,...should be okay getting it back and starting the process shortly with CC provider. Hope I dont get caught out on items that fall under the Ј100 bracket....extra rails/shelving/plinth packs etc...
    Anyone clear on how this particular actually aspect works regaring the Ј100 minimum item limit or will I be okay for the total order paid, meaing the ~Ј700 odd?
    Also - this really is my bigger problem at the moment - I REALLY, REALLY NEED to now find new wardrobe units that are 90cm wide - anyone got any "point me in the right direction" ideas please!? Much appreciated if so...house needs them badly!!
