A question about : McArthur Glen Bridgend?

Was recommended a day out visit to McArthur Glen in Bridgend as she said it had loads of stores, all with permanent bargains / sales..

Has anyone else been, is it worth a visit?

Best answers:

  • Yes, well worth a visit.
There are lots of big name chainsore outlets:
    Marks and spencer
    Next to nothing
    Goldsmiths
    Whittards
    Pilot
... loads more. No Monsoon, sadly.
  • It's ok there but can be a bit hit and miss on bargains. This may help - go to the website and get a 10% discount voucher here
  • hi
i live 2 mins from there
i love it,and am there at least once a week lol
my fave shops are ben sherman, elle, designer room, pilot oh and thorntons
hubby always gets his work suits from there ,fab bargains like 2 ted baker suits for £ 260 !! instead of £300+ each !!
next to nothing isnt there anymore aurora but they are building a new extension and its coming back
theres a large food court ,has mc donalds, harry ramsdens etc with a soft play area ( for under 6s) at the far end
plus another play area ( up to age 12) by sidolis coffee shop
also an odeon cinema,KFC & pizza hut upstairs

    well worth a visit IMO
  • Went there today , watched Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest then did a bit of shopping , picked up a pair of Lee Cooper jeans for Ј10 but didn't seem to be as many bargains today as there normally are and some prices are higher than elsewhere like in the Cadburys shop where they were selling out of date 500g bags of fruit allsorts for Ј1.99 , I bought a 215 g bag of the same in Asda for 49p dated 03/2007.
  • It's ok, but I wouldn't drive too far to visit and as has been previously stated, Next to Nothing has gone now which is a pity but they have one in Cardiff city centre which is good.
The parking however is getting worse and worse, often have to drive around a few times to find a space
Good bargains to be had in the outdoor shops however, (not quite such a fashion conscious clientele as maybe Pilot).
  • i always go in the week or early morning at weekends so dont have a problem parking
but one bank holiday even the over flow carpark was full lol
  • had some bargains here on friday
claires had 30% off, also "woods of windsor" ( near the kids play area and sidolis) have fab girlie things eg a feathery pen £2.75 reduced to 71p! and little fairy keyrings £2.85 down to 69p!
i bought a few for our nieces and some as little bday pressies for my sons nursery friends
they had other bigger things eg mirrors / jewellery boxes / coat hooks etc all at fab prices and all pink n girly lol
    HTH someone

im not adversed to mcarthur glen, but if you've ever had the fortune of shopping at the clarks village in street (somerset) you will know that Mcarthur glen is a poor imitation
  • ah well what you've never had you never miss ,or summat like that lol
anywhere is better for shopping than where i am from lol
  • if you like mcarthur glen, then you will love street. its about 3 times the size, quaint, set in its own grounds, walking distance to Street high street. just fab
  • oooh ive just looked it up ,it looks fab!!!
def on my list of places to go shopping in 2007 lol !
  • There is a new GAP outlet opening @ Mc Arthur Glen next month
hmmmm wonder if they will do the vouchers for the first 50 customers again
  • A very old thread, but my 2p, waste of time, every time I've been there I've been bored to tears, usual high street tat for sale, nothing unique, nothing interesting. Prices not cheap, goods (levis) hacked with scissors to remove labels.
Example, I saw a pair of CAT steel toe boots there for 50 - 60 pounds can be bought in Makro for 35 quid.
Mostly uncovered open to the rain. built to act like a wind tunnel, and built on the top of a hill so it's often windy there.
  • Wigs not a fan then!
I dont like it either, but thats only because I hate shopping. A load of women I know love it so it depends on what your looking for!
there is a cool little kitchen shop there (Kitch-n-sync or something i think) that has some neat little gadgets, but sadly isnt especially cheap! nice to look in though! the rest of it is pretty much the same as everywhere else!
Dont live in Bridgend anymore so dont visit there, but i think its always expanding, and TBH, a small place like Bridgend needs somewhere like "The pines" (to us locals) as an attraction!
  • nah im not that much of a moneysaver / tight @rse
i like me comforts so wouldnt go that far
