  • Here is the text posted previously which I have copied over from the older thread
and HERE is the link to the previous Slimming World thread.
Dear all, as the last thread grew so long here we have a new one. I am simply copying all that Consultant31 put in the introduction to the pre-Christmas thread for you here. There have been a few changes on SW in the past couple of months - cereal allowances have gone up slightly (but very slightly - by a gram or two, don't get too excited) and some of the Muller yogs now have syns, but the basics remain the same - eat lots and lots of healthy food and treat yourself to a few syns each day!
Food Optimising is a plan for life, it is not a quick fix and you should look at weight losses over a period of time. There are no prizes for speed of weight loss.
You need to commit to making changes to the food that you buy and how you cook it, because what you have been doing in the past has not got you to where you want to be.
You cannot use parts of the plan that suit you and forget the rest.
If you are not prepared to make a commitment to change the behaviour that has got you into your current situation then nothing is going to change, and above all things, you need to be honest and accountable for every single mouthful of food that passes your lips.
You need to care enough to take time out to pre-plan your slimming campaign. Look again at the menu plans and see the variety and volume of food you can eat. All you have to lose is the weight.
Slimming World has been successfully helping people lose weight for over forty years, so trust them and read your Food Optimising and Choose Success books again and again.
Food Optimising is easy but life isn't. Losing weight is a battle but you have the battle plan in your food optimising book, your secret weapon is free food, and that, together with your healthy extras and syns add up to a healthy way of eating that can (and should) be a life plan. Success is there waiting for you………go for it!
The Original (Red) and Green plans are still going strong but most people may well have heard of the Extra Easy plan. If you've ever wondered if it works, I promise you it does. If you've ever wondered how it works, just trust the experts at SW, they wouldn't send you on the wrong path.
If you fancy having a go at EE, here are the official 'rules' to ensure that you not only lose weight regularly but get all the nutrition your body needs to function well:-
    Extra Easy:
    1: Choose your Free Food
Anything that’s Free Food on Green OR Original – so that’s pasta, rice, potatoes, lean meat, poultry, fish and all the Superfree food – is totally Free on Extra Easy! Yes, you can eat unlimited meat, potatoes and veg, fish, chips and mushy peas, and chicken curry and rice with no measuring, no weighing, no counting – no kidding!
And for super-fast, super healthy results, fill one third of your plate with Superfree Food!
    2: Choose your Healthy Extras
Each day select one Healthy Extra ‘a’ choice and one Healthy Extra ‘b’ choice from our simplified list of calcium and fibre-filled foods, including milk, cheese, bread and cereal.
3: Enjoy 5-15 Syns each day
And if the Syn values for Green and Original foods are different on the standard Syns lists, count the lower one!
    -------------------------------------------------------------
If you find your weight loss has slowed down or stopped, check:-
    1. Whether everything you're counting as Free, is Free
    2. Whether you're under-estimating Syn values (over-estimate if guessing)
    3. Whether you're counting everything that should be counted
    4. Whether you're measuring everything that should be measured
    5. Whether you're sabotaging your success in any other way (using SAS logs will help uncover individual long-term self-sabotage patterns) and, if none of these is the culprit, either...........
A: increase the proportion of Superfree Foods to half of your plate
    OR
B: switch to more Speed Foods
And above all, if you follow the plan, any plan, 100% you will lose weight!

Remember we are all here to support each other, and to have fun, and to share in any little disappointments. Oh, and also try to remember not to quote wholesale from books or the SW website as there are copyright laws and we don't want Slimming World seeing us as nasty rivals, this is more for support
  • Awards achieved .....
  • Am I too early to come in and plonk big bum down lol>?
Im an avid slimming world fan lost 6 stone was 7 stone but have another 9 to lose hopefully a blooming chunk of it in 2013 xx
  • WOW fab, I need a new thread to get my motivation back and keep me going, thanks Eric.
I joined SW for the first time in May 2011. I went for a few weeks until I got the hang of it and then I decieded to go it alone. I've lost 7 st and I've been the same weight for over a year now but would like to lose some more and get down to 10 st.
I'm not sure wether to hop on the scales or not because I find it very upsetting? I fell off the wagon a week or so before Christmas but I've been back on track as of yesterday, and I've been good again today so feel like I'm OK now.
I aim to post daily to keep in the zone.
    SO today I've had
B ~ Flat mushrooms on leaves with Baked Beans and cheese (A)
L ~ carrots, pickled onions, cucu, beetroot, toms,
T ~ Mash pot, broc, sprouts, cauli, peas, french beans, spicey beans
and a free Shape yog oh and an apple, 2 satsumas and a banana
    Good o
  • Having been ill before xmas and gaining and the xmas gain i have seen on home scales - no weigh in for us until next thursday as the 6th form academy will not allow SW to open for the evening this week i am being extra careful now to try and shift it all before next week.

    L, mugshot, apple, 2 apricots.
    S, apple.

  • I sat down ready to join the group and noticed the room empty.... do I smell lol
Now that I found you all again I wanted to share the lidl deal this weekend. I am on a budget so this is brilliant

    Branston beans 4pk Ј1
Twin pack back bacon (fat needs removing) 400g Ј1.14
    Available this weekend only
I will be heading there in the morning and thought some of you would be interested also
  • Evening Ladies After a lovely week off of slimming world I am definitely ready to get back on it! My scales are saying a 4 1/2lb gain which isn't as much as I was expecting to be honest and I know that I can easily get that off as soon as I get back on the plan.
As lovely as all the Christmas food was, doesn't it leave you feeling disgusting? I just feel so bloated and revolting, sticking to plan leaves me feeling amazing compared to this!
  • Thanks for the shiny new thread FE
  • Hi Everyone
Been thinking about doing something about my weight now for some time but with New Year looming and a new SW group starting in town, I think this is the push that I need.
Can I join the gang and pick your brains when needed and share my journey please.
Would you recommend that I join a group or go it alone with the magazine and this thread??? Keep thinking the money would be better spent on fruit and veg??
  • I would love to join in. I have over three stones to lose and am going to a local SW group.
I usually start the day well and end up picking at anything I fancy in the evenings but I am going to try and find some extra willpower.
  • Hello!
I would like to join this group too if I may? Quick history:
At my heaviest was 15 stone and at 5'2.5" was waaaaaaaaay bad.
Now I weigh 12 stone 6.5, a large chunk I managed myself but then joined SW as I needed the structure and to be honest was sick to death of what I was eating!
I exercise a LOT - I go to the gym at least twice a week doing free weights (love it, never thought I would but I do), walk my dogs almost every day and do 1 looooong walk at the weekends. I live in SE Wales so do some mountain walking when there isn't horizontal rain and force 8 gales
I have had a look through some posts on your old thread and you all seem a friendly lot without the "look in the directory" answer for questions!
  • Welcome one step closer~we are indeed a friendly lot.
    Keep posting!
  • If I'm eating spicy cheddar - such as cheddar with peppers/chilli and jalapenos in, do you think I can count this as a HEB or should I syn it?
  • It won't let me quote but for the person asking about joining a group or going it alone - join a group 100%, I actually asked the same question before I joined and everyone told me to go to group and I completely understand why now. I would never have stuck to it if I didn't go to group, getting weighed every week and having that support is what kept me motivated.
As for the cheddar, personally I would heb it because peppers, chillis and jalepenos are free!
I am back on the wagon today, pineapple for breakfast and home made leek and potato soup for lunch, I may even do some hula hooping tonight. I was hoping to go out for a lovely long walk but it is chucking down so I don't think that will be happening. I am really missing my 10 miles a day at the moment, it is supposed to be sunny tomorrow though so fingers crossed!
I bought myself a fitbit for Christmas, I got it yesterday, it is fab! It's like a glorified pedometer really, counts steps, tells me how many miles I have walked, how many flights of steps I have gone up, how active I have been and it monitors my sleep - last night I slept for 7 hours 49 minutes, took 11 minutes to go to sleep, woke up 5 times, I love it lol.
  • Can honestly say im enjoying being back on the wagon, no more uncomfortable bloatedness but happily satisfied.
Today is looking to be a green day or me.
B, porridge made with water. bowl of melon and pineapple.(1st heb)
L, plate of salad, pickled beetroot and spicy shallots, 30g cheddar and 3 boiled eggs. apple. (1st hea)
T, mushroom curry and boiled rice. apricots.
    S, honey (2syns) on toast (2nd heb)
2nd hea as milk for coffee. May have a small packet of malted milk think they are called mini moo's. 6ish syns without looking.
