A question about : Lost ISA and no paper trail

I have been having a massive declutter. And found paper work for a very old ISA share account.

I have found nothing to say I cashed it in. But I could have done. No statements or anything. But seeing as I am keep everything and just in the process of shredding paper work from 1999 and hence I found it.

I have spoken to the company concerned and they have been taken over by someone else. It seems in 2004 another company took over the some of there investments.

I have spoken to the new company and they gave me a list of what they have taken over and my ISA share account was not one of them.

So phoned back the other company and they said the new company had taken it over.

So do I assume it was cashed in and I have had the money. Not sure what else I can do the paperwork I have is nearly 16 yrs old!!!

Thank in advance.

Yours

Calley

Best answers:

  • Have you tried https://www.mylostaccount.org.uk/ ?
  • Have you moved house many times?
If not and you've received no paperwork then I'd suggest you probably closed it but hadn't disposed of paperwork.
  • If it were extant it is likely that you would receive annual statements and suchlike. You presumably haven't and therefor you sold it.
