A question about : Lost documents

I was made bankrupt in March 2011 and discharged in 2012. I have moved several times since then and have lost my documents.
Can anyone tell me how I can get hold of them as I see I will need this information to begin cleaning up my credit file.

Thank you.

Best answers:

  • What documents are you thinking of? Your statement of affairs? You don't need old docs to start cleaning up your credit file at all. What is on your mind exactly in this regard? Your future actions in terms of banking and borrowing "clean up" your credit file-nothing else.
If you are thinking that you need to chase down old creditors to push them off your credit file then you cannot do that. They will "fall off" in the normal way.
  • I have accounts that show as defaults that apparently should show as satisfied at the date of discharge. I'm told if I don't do this it will take longer than six years from the date of my discharge for things to fall off - I also need to track down a ccj that was issued (but I didn't know about until over a year later but which showed up on a noddle credit report and which I couldn't figure out how to chase.) It was issued a few days after my discharge and I have no idea what it related to - i assume it was a debt with my ex husband that he didn't tell me about. (My bankruptcy happened when I split up with my ex-husband). If I'm still liable to pay it I really need to sort it out - but it's hard to make oneself chase a debt that isn't chasing you if you see what I mean! Which is why I'm just now getting round to it - also was waiting to be more financially stable which I am now.
Sorry went on a bit. All in a muddle and want to be clear
  • The Insolvency Service can do you copies of the documents you may need with is without charge - just call and ask
All check in with all the Credit Reference Agencies's (not just one) apparently
My biggest regret was leaving stuff and then hearing it from the likes of the Provi - you've done your time after all
  • Thank you very much
  • One account which was definitely included in bankruptcy docs is marked as defaulted in July 2012 which is three months after discharge. This is clearly wrong but relates to a joint loan that was part of mortgage- would it be worth Mr getting a cab appt to sort these things out - or something similar?
