A question about : Lloyds TSB, worth a shot?

7 years ago I had a typical bank charges claim going through, back then the amount of charges I had accrued was in the region of Ј4,000 over a ten year period, towards the end of my account the charges 'snowballed' and I used to have months where half my wages were bank charges. It took a lot out of me and financially left me in a mess and after the court ruling and I was devastated that I wouldnt be getting anything back as I had also put forward a claim for financial hardship case which was quite blatantly ignored by lloyds TSB. The following months were tough, I had no choice but to get a new current account but lloyds kept adding charges after charge (even after court case) to my current account as it was in minus due to charges already. The saving grace was a debt management company (kensington finance) who have been incredibly helpful and over the last 7 years have helped me pay almost Ј20,000 in debt....most of which was defaulted and moved to debt collection agencies due to the charges on my lloyds TSB account. After all this time I still have never confronted Lloyds TSB about there actions with me, maybe they dealt with me in the same 'pigeon hole' as other fee claimants but I still feel very annoyed and angered by it....I still know the account number and sortcode as its burnt into my brain!

I have recently become friends with a solicitor who specialises in finance and he is quite shocked by my mistreatment, especially as the account caused me so much other financial mess and the fact that I'm still with a debt management company due to this

Is it worth revisiting this episode with Llloyds TSB? I've struggled with confidence until recently but as Im finally becoming more control of my finances but the past years of struggle have all stemmed from that account.

Shall I revisit this?

  • If you are complaining about old bank charges your friend should refer to the banks 2009 court case win on "unfair charges". They have no obligation to refund historical charges
