A question about : Joint bank account -prior to probate
Could anyone help with this query please?
My mother died recently. She had a joint bank account with my father, I am the executor and will be dealing with probate etc. In the meantime will my father be able to use the joint account as normal if I write to advise them?
many thanks
Best answers:
- Sorry about your loss. They'll probably require an original death certificate but as long as you provide that it should simply be transferred into his sole name.
- Don't forget to establish the correct direct debits and any standing orders on the account so only the relevant ones continue and those not needed or only relevant to your mother are cancelled.
