A question about : iPhone 6+ (Parcel from Apple via UPS) Lost

Hello guys,
Basically somebody else picked up my parcel from the UPS pickup point.
Bought iPhone 6 Plus from Apple.com and got it delivered to a pick up point so that I could pick it up in my own time. It was a gift surprise for wife, so didn't want to spoil the surprise by receiving it at home.
Later in the night when I went to the pick up point to get my parcel, I was told there was no parcel, I asked the shop worker to call his boss to know the whereabouts of the parcel. I also spoke to her on the phone and she said (mentioning my name) that somebody picked up the parcel in the afternoon, showed the proof of ID.
Next day I went to the shop again to see her personally. She said this guy had a missed delivery note from the driver and he had a proof of address. My parcel had the address of pick up point. Anyway, this shop lady scanned his missing parcel note and scanned my parcel, which didn't go through, then she scanned his parcel which went through, but this guy said both parcels belong to him (according to her) and he took both parcels.
Now what...???
My night didn't go well, in the morning, I called Apple and was told that they have initiated the investigation. I also called UPS and told them about it. I also reported it to the local police. This shop has CCTV cameras, and according to the shop lady, she had the CCTV footage. I was visited by the police, told them everything, and also told them that the shop lady have the CCTV footage which she will give you. Police visited the shop soon after they left me and took her statement too. In the mean time, I spoke to Apple customer care number of times, as well as the police. UPS apparently is not responding to the police request for the information about this guy as UPS definitely got the details who was this guy, as he picked up his own parcel and also signed for my parcel too.
Few days ago when I spoke to the police when I asked them if they have the CCTV footage and to my surprise the shop lady never gave them the footage. I went to the shop next morning to see what's going on and the shop lady assured me that she gave the footage to the police very same day. Now the shop lady says that she got new software and there is no footage in HDD any more.
In the mean time, I received an email from Apple that UPS will be conducting an interview with the driver. I was so mad about the whole thing that why UPS is wasting time by interviewing the driver when the parcel didn't go missing in the transit. It went missing from the pick up point.

Now my question is that, why Apple is not giving me a time frame of the whole thing? Why do I have to wait for God knows how many days for a decision? All the businesses are insured, why can't they give me my phone and keep doing their investigations? If I was the culprit, I wouldn't involve police and get myself in trouble. This guy was in the CCTV, luckily the police woman who visited this shop lady saw the footage and confirmed it wasn't me.

I know I have the option to dispute this payment with the credit card issuer, but I don't want to go that route. I want this to be sorted as quickly as possible.

Best answers:

  • My son ordered a Macbook from Apple and the parcel has been marked as delivered and signed for in his surname, but it was not delivered here.
It must have been delivered to the wrong place and signed for by some crook who simply copied the name from the label.
I've spoken to apple and to the courier who say they will investigate, but if the delivery driver swears he delivered it to to the right place what legal recourse do I have?
We can ill afford to lose Ј800
  • UPS/ shop + seller are the victims.
Your contract was to have the phone handed over to you.
The courier has no contract with you, only the sender.
Get on to who sold it and make it very clear they have not fulfilled contract and they owe you a refund or a phone, the couriers mistake in getting scammed is not your issue, they hired them.
If you get no joy, use the credit card option and start a charge back.
