A question about : Installing Panasonic Tz60 software

Hi All
This is last chance saloon for me with regards to this problem.
Attempted to load the software which came with my new Tz60 camera, only to get the error message need . NETframework V.3 to operate this software. Although I do have software installed for my Tz7, this can only show the images, and not the AVCHD Movies taken with the new camera. (Oddly, the RAW images shot with the new camera do seem to fire up the installed Canon software to open them, but I digress.)
Using regedit I can see various versions of .netframework listed, but frankly don't understand if they are there and working. I have tried uninstalling various versions, and downloading and installing various versions but without success.
The machine is a seven year old Dell Inspiron 530. Using Vista. Truthfully I have had updating problems for about three years, can't in fact get IE9 for instance, although Firefox is covering that problem. My wife and Son are saying New Computer. If any of you guys have got thoughts on getting the software onto this computer I will be grateful to hear them!

Best answers:

  • Control panel > windows programs and features > turn windows features on or off
    Check Microsoft .net framework there.
    Handy guide here

  • Thanks for a quick reply Fightsback.
In my "prog and features" the only reference to .NET is, "Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Client Profile". Presumably I had removed all other traces last time I had a go at this in Mid January. I take it the "Turn Windows Features on or off" box requires for programmes to be added? Certainly, mine opens as a blank box. Will have a look at your provided link. https://static.moneysavingexpert.com/...lies/smile.gif
  • Looks like I have been kicked out of the Last Chance Saloon!
I appear to have .Net Version 4 installed now, have reloaded the Panny software, and am still getting the error box, "To run this application you must first install one of the following versions of the .NET Framework: v4.0 etc."
In regedit a version 4 appears in the left hand column, but the right hand column info tells me nothing, other than that the column headed "Data" says "Value not set", which might imply whatever I am trying to do, isnt being seen by Windows.
Thank you again Fightsback for your valliant effort. Via that link I might have a go at getting rid of Microsoft Visual C++ runtime libraries, but certainly not tonight.
  • Have you tried the .NET Framework Cleanup Tool yet? If not, try it, reboot, then run the registry cleaner from CCleaner then do another reboot.
Also try Microsoft .NET Framework Repair Tool, reboot, registry clean, reboot and cross your fingers.
.NET issues are usually a pain to fix, but if you're willing to put the time in it's usually fixable.
  • In the end I performed a Macrium image scan, and produced a rescue disk.
Then a fresh Windows Vista reinstall from the original disk, with a lot of help from YouTube. Zillions of updates including more .NETframework than I could shake a stick at. The Panasonic software is now working! Yippee! Video's somewhat shaky. Could be whichever part of the Dell fires that up, is getting a bit long in the tooth.
I have naturally lost my Windows Mail settings. As well as Macrium I did back up to the 500gig Hp external drive.
I wondered if any of you guys would know if the original settings. Html, pop3, etc, sort of stuff should be viewable anywhere on the backups, so I could copy it back into Windows Mail and resume my lifelong useage of that mail server?
