A question about : Information Commissioners Office

I am a relative newbie to this sub-form but apologies in advance if this has been covered before. But has anyone ever reported the DVLA to the ICO.

They are an independent body who upholds the information rights of the public and can take enforcement action. Their remit does cover the data protection act.

Best answers:

  • Yes, several times. They are useless. They are hand-in-glove with DVLA and refuse to investigate them.
  • The ICO allows the DVLA to release data under Section 27 (1) (e) of the Road Vehicles (Registration & Licensing) Regulations 2002, which says that they may (not must) release the information to anyone who can demonstrate 'reasonable cause'.
All PPCs who are members of an Approved Trade Association (BPA or IPC) are assumed to have de facto reasonable cause.
However, according to the minutes of a meeting held between the DVLA and the ICO, it was stated that the data should not be released if the purpose for which it was being used was unlawful.
So if Beavis wins tomorrow, we can confidently expect that Oliver Morley will walk down to the DVLA data centre, and pull the plug out of the back of the KADOE server ...
  • by all means report them ..... but unless it is followed up to your MP then nothing will happen :-(
have a read through ... pob the longest single thread on this hallowed forum ... it will give you an idea just how much the various establishment weasels will do to keep things just as they are

  • I doubt that any senior civil servant would know what a server is, never mind be allowed to actually hold and pull the mains plug, the electricians union would be up in arms about it
ie:- he is not PART P trained or registered
  • Yep, in fact I had a reply today. See my thread, which Ralphy has linked for the reply.
