A question about : I'm New!

Hi Everyone!

I'm new here. It's great to see such an active forum.

I currently have $10,800 to pay off until I'm debt free. I want that to be by Christmas 2015.

I will have access to $2700 in July, which has been locked away in one of the Australian Gov't First Home Saver Accounts. Since they scrapped the scheme, I will be able to use the funds when they become available. I plan to use this to help pay down debt.

5 Years ago we were $22,000 in debt and had just signed up for a car loan ($18,000). We had two incomes at the time, but then we went down to one income when we had our son. Needless to say, something had to give, and we sold the car and I went without for quite some time.

It took a long time to make some headway into our debt, as the interest rates meant we barely made a dent each month. Then I got really serious and did the Dave Ramsey snowball method.
I looked into 'simple living' and looking at about a million frugal living tips. We're not extreme cheapskates, but we do live comfortably and find a lot of joy in the way we live now - doing things for ourselves, cooking from scratch, line drying clothes, making soap and more.

Our son also goes to a private school so there are fees that need to be paid for that, but I still think my goal is achievable. We're really sacrificing as much as we can in order to be debt free. I also have a tiny emergency fund, but made sure to get my car serviced and new tyres and brakes done so we're safe on the road for as long as possible.

Thanks for reading!
