A question about : I want to buy a meat slicer.

I'm prepared to spend a bit of money on a meat slicer but I really would like to know what works and what doesn't. I would like to slice meat thinly and make my own bacon. Most reviews seem to say that the serrated blades, which seem to be on most slicers, often rip the meat and thin slices are difficult. The Ritter Icaro 7 looks good, does anyone own one? Can any one recommend an alternative.
