A question about : How much of a lurker are you?

There's a couple of threads I post on fairly regularly where people occasionally de-lurk to post a comment and say that they are regular readers and how useful the information is.
There's a couple of threads that I check out because they're interesting to read but which I've never posted on as I don't have anything useful to say. (Although that doesn't usually stop me.)
So time to confess - are you a closet lurker, and why?

Best answers:

  • You know that everyone will just lurk on this thread and not post?
Except me obviously. I'm a rebel.
  • I only lurk when I forget I still have this window up but as I am not on the site actively I guess that doesn't count?
  • I like to lurk, lots of threads are interesting to read but I don't see the point in joining in if I don't really have anything to say on the subject.
  • We all lurk and are lurked at times. You know, when folk view your posts for some snippets.
Thoughts for the day and the three words threads are always good for the self indulgent attention seekers.
I rarely view and hardly ever post these days. But when I do view these boards they're always a good place to start.
Keeps me abreast as it were......:-)
  • In bushes and stuff yeah...?
  • one thread I do lurk but never post in is the LOLcats thread
  • I don't post on every thread I am interested in so yes I'm a bit of a lurker.
I keep lurking on this thread.

I don't know why because I'm not inspired.
  • I keep seeing this thread pop up but have never checked out what it is
Asking people you don't know for help - pmsl!!! *UPDATED*
  • Sometimes the thread goes off at a tangent and its gone in a direction that I can't add anything helpful to. Sometimes the thread title can be misleading...it depends.
  • I lurk on the A-Z username thread a lot in the hope I will be quick enough to get the 'F' spot, but sadly I always miss the moment. One day though...
  • Im a regular lurker on a number of threads, I really only post on the employment board (as im in recruitment and sometimes can offer my take on a situation) the mortgage free wannabe board and general discussion ones like the arms.
Other boards I have a read through to pass time, or see an interesting thread, but it wouldn't always be a topic that I would feel qualified to offer advice on, or someone else has already said exactly what I was going to say, so I just thank them.
Sometimes people are posting genuine serious issues, difficulties or are crying out for help and I would feel uncomfortable commenting my first thoughts on these, as im generally not a social person, and would fear that my comment may be seen as unnecessarily harsh
