A question about : how long did you wait for a ryanair ash cloud refund?

i should have travelled on 8 may but flights were cancelled

Best answers:

  • I was due to fly three times with Ryanair the weekend of the 17th April. On the following week, I requested a refund for all three flights.
I received money for one of them last week, and for the other two, I got "please apply for refund now" emails. Confused, I applied again - still waiting to hear back about them.
Note that Ryanair say it can take up to 30 days from day of application to hear back about them!
  • I waited 14 days then called and got through quickly thankfully and the operator processed refund there and then, took 3 days pending in bank as per.
  • thanks guys.....will wait another week then call- haven't called yet because of the horror stories about hanging on for 3 hours then being cut off!
  • Hi
We were also due to travel on the 8th or the 7th, can't remember (was the Saturday) got cancelled, had to rebook for Sunday, it charged us so have submitted for a refund - by faxing them (couldn't get through from France on the phone).
Faxed ages ago, email last week to say it could be up to 28 days!!!
    Not heard anything else

  • I was scheduled to fly around April 15. I filled in the return form a couple of days later, then got an email to fill it in (again) and did that. I sent a fax with a complaint end of July. Never heard anything. 30 days are definitely over...
  • I waited thirty days then claimed a charge back via my credit card.
  • Hi,
please can someone help me? I was in Gran Canaria when the ash cloud prevented us from returning home. Ryanair left us stranded for 5 extra days with no help whatsoever-they wouldn't even answer the phone or e-mails.
So we did the sensible thing - left our 5 star accomadation for a more modest hotel which we booked through thompson, we saved our online VAT receipts so we could claim when we got back.
Got back - submitted a claim which took about a month for them to get in touch to say congratulations we will consider your claim - how big of them!! We sent off the necessary information along with said VAT receipts.
We then received an e-mail saying they wouldn't consider our hotel expenses because we hadn't provided any VAT receipts. I replied stating they had been sent and sent another letter off to them 'signed for' which cost me Ј6.
We received a cheque today for Ј34.27 for the taxi to the airport (which we didn't even provide a VAT receipt for as it was spanish!!) with a letter which says "please find enclosed a cheque to the value of 34.27GBP in full and final settlement of your claim.
I won't be cashing the cheque as this is like accepting the claim is closed, as for what else I need to do now, I am absolutley stumped. Any ideas?????? .............Please
  • Fax them, give them a week, then
    take them to court
  • Hi Cityboy, Your contributions have been really great over the last 4 or more months. I have personally complained to the AUC & my MP. From the reply I got from the AUC hell will freeze over before they do anything. The insurance companies likewise aren't really up for it as they really can't see a profit.
I really am of the opinion that the airlines are hoping that we will just go away. If they are taken to court through small claims it is going to cost them a damn site more to defend the action.
As far as Ryanair are concerned they never offered a anything & for those of us involved with them we have the added bonus of their CE publically stating that he wouldn't do a thing
