A question about : Home insurance when you have been flooded
We cannot seem to get any Insurance company to insure us for even fire and theft only. We were the victims of flash floods in July and had 18 of murky muddy water throughout downstairs. We have replaced everthing at our own cost but find we are running round in circles. We had been flooded 5 years ago although it was only surface water this time it was horrendous. I have had many conversations with the Envionment Agency. Am registered with floodline. We live in a grade 2 listed cottage which we cannot use anything other than solid wood for the doors and windows. We have replaced the back door with a much thicker one. We have to apply for permission to use a flood barrier and fix the slots for this to the back door frame.
We have written off to the Env. Agency for an Insurance Related Report although I am unsure of the benefits of this and Barclays Bank suggested we get this done. It cost us Ј25 and I hope it will be worth it.
Are there any other topics on the mse site I could read in respect to this topic. Many thanks Mistyang

- i guess NOT
- Why did you replace everything at your own cost?. Unless you were not insured. If you were insured, then try your old company. I was under the impression that they would still insure you - although they may charge a fortune for this.
