A question about : Help needed with a warfdale TV

We have a small warfdale TV in the bedroom which is sefrviced by a sky box which is not seviced by sky.

When the TV is on we get the BBC London news programmes rather than the midlands programmes where we are situated, can someone tell me how to change the channel so we can get local news. My husband has to spend a fair amount of time in bed and is not happy watching news from London.

Do I need to tune in the sky box or the TV? The sky box control does not work so I have to use the panel on the front to change programmes.

Best answers:

  • Hi,
do you mean you just get the free Sky channels?
West Midlands is Ch 959, East Ch 960, if remote doesn't work you'll just need to use channel change button.
  • There's a region setting on the box , must be set to london
  • It's a long time since I set up a Sky box, but don't you have to enter your postcode at some point and that's what it uses to determine what BBC regional programmes you get? Quite how you do it without a remote I'm not sure, I guess it would be possible on the box but a pain in the backside. Personally I'd buy a cheap Freesat box with a working remote instead, that way you can watch whichever BBC regional programmes you want to.
  • agrinnall - I think Sky boxes do their regions with the subscriber card - it contains your postcode and therefore your region information. Take it out and I guess you'll get London?
Freesat asks for your postcode, you might be getting mixed up with that.
Freeview comes from a nearby transmitter, rather than space, so no problem there.
