A question about : Help

Hi, please can anyone help.

I am trying to claim PPI for my Egg Credit Card which is now been sold to Barclaycard. To cut a long story short, Barclaycard are saying they have no record of my account so cannot uphold my claim. I gave them the card number, but i cannot remember when i first got the card, it was around 1992 - 2000. Because it was so long ago, the details are not on my credit file and i have no paperwork. What can i do to find out when i took the card out ? Thank you

Best answers:

  • You are making a complaint, not making a claim. You would need also to have some evidence to back up your complaint. What is the nature of your complaint.
If they have no paperwork ie original agreement, which is natural as it is so far back and you have no paperwork it is game over.
It will have been destroyed after such a long time.
  • I thought because it was so long ago, it would have been a pre-ticked box and the form i posted ?
  • You appear to be grasping at straws. You haven't provided any evidence whatsoever that you ever paid PPI, just a vague suggestion that thete may have been a pre ticked box on the application form. You win todays prize for would be opportunistic chancer.
  • Your choices are to foerget about it, or sed a SAR and Ј10 to Egg [ Canada Square Operations] and see what they have left.
Most Egg cards were applied for online and at some point they were pre selected for PPI, [no one knows the exact dates].
When or if you get any info back, come back then. This is not a guarantee you'll get any money back or that you on't be wasting Ј10. It's your call.
And you are not claiming ayting back, you are making a complaint that something was missold to you.
