  • Hi - just wondered how moneysavers have found claiming for complementary medicine?
I'd like to restart my accupuncture, would go to registered person etc, would claim under Foresters or insure for less.
Also wondered if registered chinese medicine practitioners are viewed as homeopaths for the purpose of claiming???
    Thanks a lot!
  • I can't offer any experience, as I only heard about the existence of cashplans two days ago (would that I had known about them before - I'm currently spending Ј30/week seeing an osteopath!).
It seems a bit odd to exclude TCM and include acupunture. I suppose the only sure way to find out is to check with the policy provider.
I was browsing through cashplan websites last night, and they seemed to need a referral from a GP to alternative practitioner before you can claim. I'm wondering how it works for dental treatment - is any qualified dentist OK, or do they prefer NHS dentists?
Any cashplan veterans out there? I'm a complete newbie to this so any advice on how these things actually work in practice would be very much appreciated!
    TF
  • Hi,
I've been using HSA(www.hsa.co.uk)for five years without any problem, mostly to cover dentist and optician cost. They process your payment very promptly upon receiving your form and receipts, normally within 5-7 days you receive a money into your bank account.
After reading Martin's article about some other cash health plans available in UK,I realised that some other providers offer better value for a money.I am seriosly considering switching to HealthSure(www.healthsure.co.uk),as they offer better cover for the same monthly payment.
Is there anybody who is using HealthSure and what is your opinion about them?
    Thank you for all replies.
  • I don’t know if I can be of much help as I only signed up to Healthsure a couple of months ago.
I did the maths for just me & Mr Pennywise’s optical and dental bills Healthsure would give us the most money back
Estimated bills + premiums – cashback
I worked out they would end up giving us back the money for our premiums and around Ј80 on top, on their lowest price premium.
We have just claimed for Mr Pennywise’s new specs, got the specs on Saturday 26th Feb, sent the form and receipt on Monday 28th Feb and got the money in the bank today (4th). That’s less than a week from when we paid out for the specs. In my book that’s good service.
We are both going to the dentist next week so we’ll see how they do then.
