A question about : Has BBC Watchdog lost its bite?

seeing last night's episode, seems companies couldn't care less.

The fake car engine guy just did a benny hill chase, and the nowTV rep was all blah blah improving blah blah..

Best answers:

  • Yes. It's just a televised version of the Daily Mail, never letting the facts get in the way of a good story. Stopped watching years ago.
  • Meh... Used to really enjoy it, but now get a bit bored.
  • I used to call it my favourite comedy programme, but I haven't watched for years.
The sensationalism kept increasing, and the amount of even handed factual advice falling.
  • It never had any "Bite", been said many times before it has no powers to prosecute, or shut down businesses, that up to TS or the Police.
  • You would be an idiot to go on the show now, pointless, just issue a statement so Anne cant talk all over you.
  • There would be a point to the programme if all the scammers got locked away, because each week they show plenty of hard evidence.
The general public need protection from thieves, but what they do not need, is a programme which treats the whole thing as some kind of "Keystone Cops meets Derek Trotter", and then fails to achieve zilch at the end of the show.
  • There is a lot wrong with Watchdog - not least the whole range of issues where they are left looking like hypocrites based on the conduct of the BBC 's very own rogue traders TV licensing.
