A question about : GTA 5 on PS4 ?

I have seen rumours on the internet that GTA 5 could be released on the PS4 in the next few months. Has anyone heard any definite news on this or maybe a possible release date?

I currently still have the ps3 as have been waiting for more games to be released on the ps4. Think will invest in the ps4 should they release GTA 5 for it title=Big

Best answers:

  • I did hear that it was going to be released next year.I do hope they add more content i played it on ps3 and was left feeling quite dissapointed with it.Don't get me wrong it is a good game just not a great game in my opinion the best gta was the first san andreas
  • It's all just a huge rumour. Nothing has come from Rockstar officially, it's just a petition that's been signed to bring GTA V to the PC, so people are starting to think they'll make a next-gen version of the game for the consoles too. Word of advice; don't listen to any rumours. Wait until Rockstar officially announce it's existence.
  • As above user said, nothing has been announced. It's just a lot of rumour and speculation at the moment. Rockstar has released the last GTA titles on the PC a little while (maybe a year or so?) after the initial console release. This is probably fueling the speculation of a PS4/Xbone release, but no one can give a definitive answer until Rockstar say something on that matter.
  • They'd have to reprogram the whole thing. Can't see it happening.
  • I've got my fingers crossed for some concrete news at E3 next month. Here's hoping...
  • I too have heard its coming to PS4. Quite frankly I think the console needs it. Think i read somewhere the last of us was also coming..

  • TLOU has already been confirmed: https://blog.eu.playstation.com/2014/...4-summer-2014/
  • There's a major difference between Tomb Raider/The Last of Us and GTA5 - not least of all the fact GTA sold multiple times more copies than both of those combined. If I was to make an educated guess I'd say it's currently being worked on, but you can't just release a next gen port of a game like that, you're going to need to include something else with it. That's why I don't foresee any next gen port of GTA until such times as there have been at the bare minimum 2 extra single player mission packs for the game to bundle with it as a Game of the Year edition.
Releasing a verbatim port works for stuff like launch titles, mostly as they're released either at the same time OR shortly after original launch of the game, thus people will stall on buying it in favour of next gen. (see Ghosts) But GTA on the other hand was THE game of last year, only reason it wasn't gaming event of the year was the next gen launch and even then, it's a pretty close run thing. When you have sales of over 30m that's a considerable market who've been there, done that & got the t-shirt so you need to have something more for those people. There's also the fact that 30m sales of GTA5 versus 6-7m sales of next gen hardware, meaning there's atleast 20m+ who didn't upgrade their hardware. You're only looking at a maximum sales figure of 10-12m if you ship by Christmas 2014 worldwide. That's enough for your standard run of the mill annual stuff, for GTA, well that'd be a disappointment.
I'm not ruling it out, but I am saying there needs to be some things happening before it'll come out - also wouldn't surprise me if there was a time based exclusivity clause in place. Something along the lines of "must only be released on PS3 & Xbox 360 for a period of no shorter than 12 calendar months" - Rockstar have form for that.
  • GTA IV was released on PC roughly a year after consoles. Despite all the rumours, and the fact that many people have been holding out for a next-gen/PC version, Rockstar have never denied that one is in the works. Of course they don't want to admit it is in production because that would put people off buying the PS3/360 version now.
If Naughty Dogs thought it was worth the effort of doing up their game for just for PS4, I'm sure Rock Star will as well for PC/PS4/Xbox One owners (especially considering the majority of PS4 owners have a PS3 and probably bought The Last of Us).
I would be surprised if they didn't release a PC/next-gen version within the before the end of the year.
  • I would love for them to release GTA 5 for the next gen consoles. I think at the moment they are good but they need way more games. Been thinking about just buying a PS3 just so I can play some more games. Getting quite sick of playing FIFA 14 and COD Ghosts on Xbox One. Doesn't seem to be that many people online either which is annoying considering I paid Ј500 for the Xbox One.
  • Having played computer games since 1975 across every conceivable platform, I used to think they I had my finger on the pulse.....but it was my 14yo son that told be GTAV was coming to the PS4 this year - apparently EVERYONE knows.............!
I have no doubt it (or a similar GTA game) will in due course (run up to Xmas?) as computer games are increasingly about game franchises. Given how expensive game development is these days it is not surprising that the industry sticks to what they know will sell.
As for quality on the PS4, bear in mind it took developers about 4 years to get the maximum "grunt" out of the PS3 - compare Fifa10 with Fifa14 to see how much extra custard they managed to squeeze out of the same small cat. So in my opinion it will be at least a couple of years before games really use the full potential of the PS4.
  • the problem is that they're still making games for ps3, and just porting to the ps4. The reason for this is there are far much more people with a PS3 and they don't wish to alienate that market.
The good tester will be the new Assassins Creed game, which will have a specific game for the PS4 and a sequel for the PS3. Which I really like.
Will be interesting to see how it goes.
  • i have Core i3 GTA 5 Playing in PC ????
