Great 'Mums: what would you like for Xmas?' Hunt

Last week we asked Dads what they really want for Christmas, so it's only fair we ask Mums what they hope to get (even though Mums are generally better at feigning delight, come Christmas day).

  • Well, I'm not getting anything this year (my daughter is too young to buy for me), but in an ideal world I'd like some baby free time to myself, maybe an afternoon to relax. And maybe a new Xbox game, plus wine and chocolate.
Life can be so full on with a small child and work, so getting a bit of time just to sit and relax (in peace, with a hot cuppa) is a rare thing.
  • A stack of magazines and an afternoon 'off' to read them. add a large bar of chocolate, and that would be perfect.
  • Some stress-free, quality time with my family. Work and other commitments get in the way so much these days it would be nice to just get some time off to enjoy their company without looking at the clock and thinking "Right, in x hours I need to be...."
  • I'd love a chance to finish a book! And stuff for university! As a gift, I'd like one of his art pictures framed. It's Picasso to me!
  • No arguments, no ' it's not fair', no 'he's got x' just chill and enjoy it you lot!
  • Too late for this year but next year I'd really like my husband to remember to write and post his fair share of the Christmas cards, especially those to his own daughters.
  • Just chocolate for me! Though I would rather have half a dozen specialist hand-made ones than a huge box of cheap ones.
  • My son to get a job and be happy about it.
Not to have to do any washing up over the vacation.
  • I would like everyone to pull together with a big effort to get the last few jobs done so we can all relax properly. But they just go onto a go slow as we approach the holiday.
  • A trailer load of manure for the vegetable patch, and somebody to come along and dig it all in for me!
  • All I want for Christmas is an unbroken night's sleep.
  • I'm in mid 50s and what I'd like more than (almost) anything is a small bottle of my favourite Hermes perfume. I can get almost everything else myself, but I cannot justify the expense of this one treat.
Good pressies other years have been warm dressing gown & a silk robe - very handy for holidays.
Not gloves, scarfs, mugs or chocolate.
  • My offspring are 16 and 13 so don't have much cash for presents. Presents I would happily receive that would cost nothing:
    - Do all the washing up for a week.
    - Wash my car.
    - Get all the rubbish out of the car and vacuum it.
    - Cook me a meal (I would buy the ingredients).
    - Weed the garden.
    - In short, think of a job that I normally have to do and do it for me once or twice and I'd be chuffed!
  • One of the best presents I ever had was a pink memory stick from DS3. I still use it, lots!
Also MIL gave me a small zip up sewing case with needles, a plaited thread of coloured cottons, tape measure, scissors, stitch ripper, thimble, needle threader etc etc etc. It goes away with me, and is fantastic. You can get similar for knitters too!
  • I'm a new mum so this year I'd like in order of preference:
Baby to get over his tummy bug
Someone to handwash the pile of messy clothes due to tummy bug
    A pain free right nipple
    An uninterrupted nights sleep
    A back massage
A day alone to tidy the house.
What I'm likely to get: an Ј8 watch from asda.
  • There's only one thing I want for Christmas.
    A divorce.
  • It will get better, honest.
    xx
  • I want a day of the children being nice to each other instead of arguing over every little thing. Grrr drives me mad!!
