A question about : Good instant/cup soup

Need something for a quick snack at work. What is the best instant soup with some thickness and flavour? Thanks.

Best answers:

  • OH says he likes Ansley Harriot instant soup. I have not tried the mug-soups but some of my old work mates says they are nice.
  • Does it have to be soup? DH much prefers these which are made much the same way in a mug but have for more "body" to them https://symingtons.com/products/pasta-mug-shots/ We buy them in B & M at 3 for Ј1.
  • Would you be able to bring a food flask to work and then you could have your usual favourite / or home made soup?
  • Doesn't have to be soup, just instant! I work long shifts and don't always get a break. Sandwiches are ok but often return home! Microwave not always available or time to cook it?
  • We find Batchelors cup-a-soups the nicest we've had. Especially the leek & potato, but they are all tasty. Asda had them on offer at 50p for packs of four sachets not long ago, so we stocked up. Somewhere or other usually has an offer on.
  • Double up your cup soup and/or add part of a stock cube maybe a handful of croutons and lashings of black pepper. Seen me through many a long day xxx
  • You could make up a noodle-soup using a cup-a-soup sachet and a packet of value instant noodles (20p in Tesco). Throw away the noodle seasoning or there'll be too much salt. Noodles will rehydrate okay with boiling water if you let them sit for 5 mins stirring occasionally. (Just use enough water for the noodles or the soup, not both, so the noodles cook in and absorb the broth.)
  • ~Definitely Ainsley......
  • The Pasta mugshots are superb!!! Especially the cheese one and the Chicken/Sweetcorn.
  • Ainsleys , when they are on special in Asda for 50 English pennies. Bloody lovely, nice and thick so quite filling if you add a couple of crackers, cheap dinner .
  • I like Heinz squeeze and stir, doesn't have a powdery taste like cup a soup as its paste. Easily portable and storable and just needs mixing with boiling water (you do have to stir for quite a while though).

  • Itsu make some nice-all be it expensive, instant (add water) noodle soup based things and also miso soup sachets. Would recommend these for taste but sadly not for price! Would recommend a tin of Campbell's and just take the condensed quarter with you, add dried mushrooms and sundried dried tomatoes and even dried noodles to add texture.
  • My local Poundstretchers sells Bachelors Cup-A-Soup for 50p a pack, far cheaper than I have seen anywhere else. It's been this price for more than a year now.
  • I've seen on the Jamie Oliver site him making homemade cuppa soups that you can take with you then just add water when you're ready.
  • I think this thread is the reason people are so fat.
You can spend an hour or two making a batch of real soup for the week that's full of nutrition. Or you can go down the pound shop and buy a bag of chemical to put in some hot water.
    People prefer quantity over quality.
  • :Bought some ainsley haricot today. The reason for instant soup was for a quick snack if I get a break during a 13+ hr shift! I don't always have access to a microwave. There is always someone giving a lecture! Yes I can make soup or take leftovers (homemade) but can't take my own microwave to heat it up. Also I can make it in a thermal mug and drink it in the car before I leave. And the odd cup soup makes you obese! On two a week I will go and buy some larger clothes in preparation for the weight gain
