A question about : Gladstone brooks

Does anyone know what sort of percentage Gladstones take of ppi refunds

Best answers:

  • Far too much for sticking a stamp on an envelope to send using the free of charge complaints process.
  • Ah, taken their bat and ball home now
  • For reference, Mylo The Moggy, deleted her posts. However, most of the responses have key parts quoted in them. So, you get the jist and that explains why the thread reads a little funny now.
  • Gosh, looks like I missed a great thread about GB!!
The way I look at it, to get 17.5k back from ppi (minus their cut, so 13k in total) must mean that you are really stupid with money to get that amount back, I dread to think how much the loan was and what amount of interest has been paid on it over the years.
It's nothing really to brag about, I'd be more ashamed than anything else, I certainly wouldn't be gloating about it on a money saving forum. So if you hadn't got the money back would you have ever been able to afford a deposit on a house?
  • I really cannot believe how I've been belittled on this thread. You don't know nothing about me or my husband or our lives.
    I've never had a loan.
    I've never had debt.
I've never had a credit card.
Husband had loans over 20 years ago, before he met me.
    His ex screwed him over.
She took him for all he had.
    She lost him his job.
    She wanted an easy life.
    She manipulated him.
He was treat like a doormat.
He's been debt free for nearly the 16 years we've been together.
I was brought up to have no loans, debts etc.
We both work hard at our jobs to live a great life.
Husband decided on GB as 3 years ago he was all new to the claiming saga & they were advertising.
    He knew they'd take a %.
We have no debts between us, only a mortgage.
We already had a chunk of deposit for our house saved already.
PPI money was a bonus on top of deposit.
House didn't need doing up, it was perfect just to move in to.
Please do not judge when you do not know the full facts.
I shouldn't have to justify myself like this, when all I did was say my husband had claimed through GB.
But there ya go, I'm a big let down to society & "stupid" just because my husband had a loan from his past & we had Ј4k taken from us for PPI fees. I am not ashamed, everyone has a past. And I wasn't bragging.
You really know how to kick someone down & make them feel small.
  • No - we realise that people fall for the lies of CMCs - who are generally as bad, if not worse than the banks.
You have come on to moneySAVINGexpert.com and told us how you gave a CMC over Ј4,000 of your money to do nothing that you could not have done yourself in a few minutes for about a pound.
That is inconsistent with the name of the site.
  • Look, please can we stop all this horrible arguing. I profusely appologise for anything I have said to upset or annoy you.
I wasn't a member of MSE 3 years so didn't know about other help.
I didn't come on here encouraging ppl to go to GB. I only told my husband's experience. I try to save money where ever possible since joining this site.
I really feel upset & this is making me feel like a small child being told off.
This forum has now lost another member. Laugh at me all you want but I didn't sign up to this site to be made to feel a laughing stock.
  • People on this forum can only judge on what information you give. When you say you were happy to give someone over Ј4k to do something that you can do for free, people will judge this as a big mistake. Whatever the circumstances.
The replies you got only reflect what you said in your OP. Deleting your posts just made you look like a petulant child.
