A question about : Freeview TV for Netflix

I am looking for a second TV (for the kitchen) that I can see Freeview/Freesat stations, and will also support Netflix. I have just spent all afternoon setting up a Samsung smart TV only to find out Netflix isn't an available app on the TV (but Amazon Prime is!). Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced TV that will meet my needs without me having to get a blueray player/PS3/Apple TV box as an add on? I want it to be as simple to use, and have no extra cables if possible.

Best answers:

  • What's reception like ? .. Will you need an aerial.
Have you looked at roku boxes - as add on to any tv with hdmi- as these have catch up and netflix ( and nowtv) via wifi
Or even cheaper now tv box . same box - but sky/nowtv not netflix )
  • Thanks Payless, there is an ariel socket available for the TV so it will be able to access freeview. I am trying to stay away from add on's if possible as this will be wall mounted and I don't want cables everywhere. I already have Netflix and love it so I want to make sure I can see this on the new TV as well.
  • Don't get a smart TV, get one of these and plug it into a normal TV's hdmi port. It does TV via the Internet and can also just use your homes wifi.
    https://www.amazon.co.uk/MK808-Androi...eywords=mk808b
It works via the Internet and runs on Android so you can use Netfilx & most of Freeview TV via this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...tvplayer&hl=en
It's like a mini tablet that plugs into your TV.
  • It'll be harder to get smaller TVs that are smart and have the netflix app, as well as presumably having WiFi. I know you don't want an add-on, but what about a Google Chromecast - it's only the size of a USB stick, plugs into HDMI and can be powered by one of the TV's USB ports, so it will all be hidden away. You control it with your smartphone, tablet or computer, and of course, it supports Netflix natively.
  • I have just bought a Chromecast from Wuaki Tv for Ј19-99 and think its brilliant. Your TV will need a spare HDMI and preferably a USB slot for the power option. Just make sure the HDMI is either vertical or horizontal and you should have no unsightly wires. Just use your laptop/tablet or phone to stream netflix in HD
You will also need to have a Wi Fi signal
