  • Go Here
You have to register but there are a lot of freebies on here.
A little like freecycle but much more.
    Have a look.
Haven't studied it fully but what dya think?
  • its a new site, its only been going about 6 months, sites like this can be very usefull, for both parties,
  • shame they cant sub divide Yorkshire being the biggest county.
  • Great site, thanks for that
  • it might be worth visiting this site regular, as its fairly new, its only going to get bigger, you never know what free items are going to be posted i know i am looking for a fridge, so fingers crossed.......
  • hi...starbuck......glad this site was of use to you...great time of the year to get a free greenhouse....great for the free seeds you can get on some of the threads........
that is how i had my greenhouse...i advertised as wanted ..and i got...10 x 8
i love these sites, as it is recycling, and also your not spending money...and you are doing the person giving it away a favour as well.... so everyone is a winner ...except the shops......
lets hope this site, and others like it.....can get the support they need.......
    still looking for a fridge......
  • I find far more local offers through www.freecycle.org
The thing that concerns me about the free2collect site is the lack of privacy policy. To apply for an item, you have to give your email address. Any site in the UK MUST publish a privacy policy if they want ANY personal info such as an email address. There is no privacy policy on this site, just a couple of lines mentioning privacy. This does not constitute a proper policy, and as such this site is acting illegally under UK law.
I would advise all members to be very wary of entering any info onto a site that doesn't have a proper privacy policy telling you exactly what your info is used for.
  • hi.. i think that the info is for contact to be made..this is a fairly new site, and as you can see it is very basic..maybe over the coming months, when it does get more people interested etc, then there will be more items in your area free to collect...give it a chance rome wasnt build in a day.....as the saying goes....i should imagine if anybody got any questions or ideas about improving the site...they would only be to happy to hear from people....
to make it clear, i want to promote all such sites which are doing the enviroment some good, plus its free.....but thanks for your comments, but most of the freebies you send for you have to give email and home adress,
there is nothin in my area in this site either, ........
  • many thanks
    dave
  • Hi
I can't understand why the guy from freecycle is having a dig at free2collect, at the end of the day they are both on the same wavelength. Free2collect is not on the same scale as freecycle but they are just trying to do their bit as far as recycling unwanted items.
The venom in his reply suggests he has a problem with other websites competing with freecycle.
  • Thanks but a town of 300,000 and we dont have a local group.
Its a very good idea and I really hope it expands and recycling is not only good for the enviroment, its also free

You stay on the drugs mate.
From the look of your other posts this evening, I don't think you'll be allowed to stay on this site for very long.
  • look at the end of the day....freecycle has been going for ages...and free2collect is fairly new and needs support like alot of other new sites with the same idea.....stopping things going into the landfill or being fly tipped....this thread was not meant to be a battle field to vebally fight out which is the best site.....there is another thread for freecycle....so any comments related to them should be there......at the end of the day i put this thread here to bring peoples attention to the fact that there is free items being offered .....if there is nothing there on the site....in your area, or not what you want fine.....it has only taken 2 min..of your time to go and have a look.......one option is to stop moaning if there is nothing in your area..and advertise something you dont want....to start the ball rolling....
at the end of the day the only thing that matters, is that this thread has done its job...by making at least 2 people happy.........star bucks...because now he has a free greenhouse........and secondly....the person giving it away....because they got rid of something that they did not want....and on a personal note...there is a time a place to accuse people drug taking, or what ever and this is not the place to do it.......chill out man....
  • i thought it might a good idea if anyone knows of any recycling sites which advertise free items to collecter maybe they could put them on this thread..
whether they be local or national ...by using these sites it will save things going into the landfills....save money as the items will be free,
i know of three sites to start with.... they are.....
    www.free2collect.co.uk .
...this site is fairly new even though it is national, it does seem to have pockets of advets....
    www.freecycle.org
.....this is an established site.. it is national, and is sub devided into locations......
    www.communityrepaint.org.uk/about2002.htm
......this site is about recycling paint, and does say its free , this is national, and has local organisations that are part of the scheme.
i know 2 of the above sites have got threads...but i have put them here also to start this one off....this is not a comparison site...it is just here hopefully to so people can find out about the different sites which are out there...
