Would you know if you were having a hypo? Too many people wouldn’t.

Over time, exposure to hypoglycemia can make the symptoms tricky to notice. This is called a loss of hypo awareness. Many episodes of severe hypoglycemia are caused by a lack of hypo awareness.

Hypo awareness is important. So we wondered: what could we do to help solve the problem?

In the Hypo Awareness Program, we think we’ve found the answer.

The Hypo Awareness Program is a completely free education course, focused on improving your knowledge of hypo symptoms. You read through the modules - all written by Benedict, our resident expert who has had type 1 diabetes for 22 years (since the age of 11). Along the way, you can help other users by asking and answering questions.

We know you're busy. That's why we designed the Hypo Awareness Program with an emphasis on convenience and accessibility. It only takes 30 seconds to sign up. From there, you can use the Program at your own pace, wherever you go. It works on the web, iOS, or Android.

Frankly, we’re excited. Really excited. Nervous-feeling-in-our-bellies excited. This is brand new. Nobody has done anything like this before. Just as the Diabetes Forum is improving people's health outcomes, the Hypo Awareness Program could really change things. Fewer hypos means better health.

Through the feedback we offer on the test, you can see genuine, marked improvement in your hypo awareness. Educational resources like this could lead to fewer episodes of severe hypoglycemia, and fewer hospitalisations.

As a little added bonus, we'll be sending a free wristband to the first 10,000 people to complete the course. Not just because we're nice - we are - but because we really want to see your results. It means a lot to us to know that people have followed the program and passed.

The Hypo Awareness Program isn’t a product – it’s a tool for the community. It’s made by people who know what they're talking about. Like you, they've lived it.
