A question about : forestry investment

Does anyone know about investing in forestry management. They are claiming that the returns are above 20% and tax free.

Best answers:

• Sounds dodgy. Who are claiming? Evidence? Can you afford to loose the money? If it's so great why isn't everyone investing in it?
• The company are called Arden Forestry.
• From their website "Arden Forestry Management Ltd is not regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority..." The disclaimer section. Also looks like the company was incorporated in 2014 (bottom of the first page).
  Sounds even more dodgy. Read any reviews you can find of this kind of investment. Don't put money in you can't afford to lose. Don't expect 20% return.
  I wouldn't go for it, and I have considered taking risks in the past.

• I think there are attractive tax breaks available with investing in forestry.
  But I would have thought there would be more widespread and well established products if it was so compelling and easy to "productise". So I am a bit sceptical too.
• The whole forestry investment scene is rife with scams and usually run under unregulated investments that are not subject to the same strict requirements that regulated schemes have.

  Certain sectors are for experts, professionals and specialists only. I believe that there is something in the pipeline that will stop them from being marketed to the general public.

• If you want a wood buy one from a reputable Land Agent. Great investments for a lifestyle choice if you like the great outdoors but not always quick to sell. Free firewood too.
