  • Hi,
I've read your advice to sell books on amazon, or ebay.
Would you know of other ways to do this? I've heard there are online book-selling sites that would get a bit more money.
    Thank you!
  • Join our xmas challenge. Basically flog your stuff on eBay/Amazon - work out how much profit you have made, and 'Gift offset' it against the amount spent on Xmas presents. We are aiming for a money neutral xmas !!

  • Car boot sales at this time of year are very good for getting rid of stuff. Although its cold last year and the year before I've had a clear out and managed to get about 100 pounds each time clear profit (after entry fee for car boot, fuel etc). Lots of people are on the look out for bargains for christmas. Nearly new clothes sell well at boot sales but display them on a clothes rail (I got mine from freecycle).
  • Hiya,
Try going to www.listbooks.co.uk I found it by chance looking on a search engine for ways to sell my books the other day. The website owner; Lee Penney set it up as he wanted a cheap way to sell his books. You can list books for free on his website and at the moment they stay on indefinitely - like amazon.co.uk you can just type in the ISBN number and it brings the synopsis up for you so all you need to do is select the right postage tariff and decide on the price and condition. It took me 20 minutes to list 8 books not bad eh?! Best of all he takes no commission on what you sell like amazon and ebay do and you don't have to use PayPal - you can opt to receive cheques only which for Ј2-Ј3 at a time works out much better. It might be a relatively small fish in the ocean at the moment compared to amazon but the more people use ListBooks the more money we all make as you keep all the cash when you make a sale instead of giving Ј0.86 plus 17.25% to amazon!!
Hope this helps everyone - try it and see!!
    Thanks!!
  • excellent - cheers lucy! just trying it now to see if i can sell rather than charity shop my books!

  • I read your article on selling books on amazon .How much should I sell a paperback or hardback for to include p&p charges? .Also how much does it cost to register with amazon ? I did not get that far because what to charge for p&p put me off.
  • has anyone else used listbooks???
I've been using greenmetropolis and have lots of books listed but haven't had any success for a while and just want to get rid of the books
  • Hiya, I need some advise and hopefully some expert direction! We have recently had a big clear out in order to redecorate and I found under the bed in the guest room a large vintage collection of Vinyl records that my uncle left me several years ago and I'd forgotten all about! Looking through the collection yesterday I discovered such records as an old Elvis 10" 78 single in it's paper sleeve by "His Master's Voice" records and many other artists of similar age, all in either paper or card sleeves some with pictures others just plain. To be honest, I really don't know what I have here and could do with some help in finding out if any of the collection has any value. I've tried searching on line for similar items but I can't seem to find any that match mine.
  • Car boot sales are always a good bet, look for some of the local every-weekend ones this way you can sell multiple things without so much effort and when you get bored you can sell things off in bulk or together just to rid yourself of them
